I have just installed all three chapters of Baldur's Gate. Do I need to install the patches for each one?(Sword Coast patch, Shadows of Amn patch, and Throne of Bhaal patch) Or does each installment cover the previous game? Thanks in advance.

BG1 is a sepearte game and BG SoA has nothing to do with it. You have to patch BG1 seperatly. Since you have toB installed, you only need the ToB patch for both SoA and ToB.

In addition, after you install the Official ToB Patch, get the Baldurdash ToB Fixpack v1.12.
