This came from over at gamespy...

-CPU - Xenon's CPU has three 3.0 GHz PowerPC cores. Each core is capable of two instructions per cycle and has an L1 cache with 32 KB for data and 32 KB for instructions. The three cores share 1 MB of L2 cache. Alpha 2 developer kits currently have two cores instead of three.

-GPU - Xenon's GPU is a generation beyond the ATI X800. Its clock speed is 500
MHz and it supports Shader 3.0. Developers are currently working with an alpha 2 GPU. Beta GPU units are expected by May and the final GPU is slated for a summer release. The final GPU will be more powerful than anything on the market today; in game terms, it would handle a game like Half-Life 2 with ease.

-System Memory - Xenon will have 256 MB of system RAM. Keep in mind that this number should not be equated to typical PC RAM. The Xbox has 64 MB of system RAM and is a very capable machine

As long as I dont have to sell my parents house to get one of these, I cant wait

"Handle a game like Half-Life 2 with ease"

The rebirth of the sacred X is coming soon!

And what does it mean by two instructions per cycle? In fact I don't understand 95 percent all of this.

Once I was at a library and opened up a book about quantum physics, just out of curiousity... and I swear it made more sense than that post Hivetyrant...

I just assume it will be a good machine for a week or two and then outdated because you can't upgrade it like the old X.

I'll just stick to my PC...

lol, basically, the CPU is very good (especially for a console)
The graphics card is above what is available for PC's at the momment (also very good)
Plus there is 4x the RAM now, which will make this even more of a beast.

Basically it will most likely cost a crap load and kick ass!!!

Xbox is an incredible machine, and runs games better and smoother than a PC. Plus, you never once have to patch your crap or fiddle with your protections or your drive or your monitor settings or .... or your Belize banking account .... or alpacas or llamas ...
just to get it to work. It has negligible lag and the frame rate drop is *nothing* compared to the frame rate drop of most PC games I've played.

On the other hand, you can't mod it or patch it or tweak it or baldurdash it, etc. So, aside from the few specific downloads available to those who subscribe to Xbox Live (I don't), what you see is what you get.

Anywho, back on topic, I'm sure it will be a fine machine released just in time to have a war with PS3. Truth be told, I wish they would delay its release till late 2006. Get it right, and allow the Xbox to continue to have another 1.5 years of awesome game titles released. The Xbox platform still can handle of lot of new material.

Actually Hive, there are better GPU's around right now. The 512mb version of the 6800 Ultra and X850XT have been announced, and are being released soon. They will 'pwn' this.

The specs are good, but I'm sticking with the PC.

And welcome back Timber, I'l have to go over to Oasis sometime and see if I can catch the mad poster what posts at midnight!

Cost will no doubt start out a lot more than the current XBox, but M$ knows that to get real sales consoles have to be very reasonably priced, I'd expect to see them under $250 - $300 VERY quickly.

As I said in a different thread, by the time the XBox2 or PS3 come out they will already be a lot slower than the best PC/GPU combos, but they cost a whole lot less and do have the game reliability thing going for them like TL mentioned.
