You should be able to extract using WinBiff without changing the original, as long as you go in as "Normal" and not "Advanced." I generally extract the items to a folder on my desktop.

Also, when you're putting them back, place them in the "Override" folder in your game's main folder (e.g., C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII-SoA\Override ). The game always checks the Override folder first, then the main bif files in the Chitin.key file in the game folder.

When you're in IEEP, there should be an option for "Color Gradient Scheme." This will open a webpage to TeamBG's listing of all the colors and their values. I have it bookmarked at home, but I'm at work right now, but you should be able to find it when you're looking at the properties of an item.

P.S. I never had much use for Haer'Dalis. But that's just my opinion. The game lacks good NPC bards.

I can't answer your first question but as for Haer'Dalis he's in my party and I'm finding out he's like Mazzy a much underated character. At first I thought he was rubbish but now I'm finding out that's not the case. He can be a very good melee fighter if you use the correct spells. Before he joins a fight have him cast tenser transformation(level 6 mage)this will give him the thaco of a fighter. Next have him cast stoneskin on himself. Now attack the enemy he will be unstopable because of the stoneskin and with tensers transformation he will have a good thaco so will deal out alot of damage. The only downside is his low hps because of his low constitution but you can give him the girdle of constitution to combat this.

You can use either the latest version of Shadowkeeper or the Creature Creator to see the colors and their numbers. There *is* a site, but I can't remember it.

Haer'Dalis is a good NPC. Fun to have in the party, good abilities, etc. If I am making a 'perfect party', I always choose Haer'Dalis if I have any spot left, cause he's good in all parties, no matter what alignment the part has, or which NPCs is in there from before.

He gets along with everyone!
"Haer'Dalis, I find your tactic of playing music whilst we fight quite a boost to my morale. Play on, I say!"
"Aye, but our foes flee thy swinging blade, and none areleft for me!"
"Nay, good man, they flee not from my blade but the wretchedness of thy playing!"
"Ha ha!" (says something I can't recall)

"Haer'Dalis, I assume you are responsible for this insipidly cheerful tune playing in my head, over and over.. You are a talented bard, as well as a clever mimic and gifted mime."
"Viconia, even though your earthly voice would seduce an incubus and you have the body of the most desired courtesans of the House of Earthly Delights.. you think that your tactic of tossing a bit of sunshine in my direction is enough to sway my heart?"
"I've had men crawl across jagged glass to lick my boot, male."
"Er.. pardon me whilst my head implodes."

One problem: Tensers Transformation disables mage spells. Thus, you can`t cast Tensers then Stoneskin, unless you wait for the Tensers to wear off. You have to do it the other way around

I think it should be Stoneskin, then Tenser, then Offensive Spin. Stoneskin lasts 8 game hours, so it should be cast right after resting so as to not use up valuable combat time.
