Balders Gate 1 XP Cap Remover?

I was wondering about the GruntWar Exp. Point Cap Remover on the cheats page. When I go to patch this file do I have to have the game running? Also once the file says successfully patched do I have to ever patch it again or will the experience cap be removed forever?

I dunno about that exp.cap. remover, but most of them work like this:
1.- you dont have to have the game running
2.- you run the patch once, and its done !!

You should not use that. It will not work depending on what you have for patches and such or TotSC.

There is a better way of removing your cap...but I am not allowed to post a URL to the site here I don't think. I am not sure, as its not my site, it should not fall into the local definition of spam.

there is another way:

get a hex editor such as UltraEdit or AXE, and open the "BGMain2.exe" file, then search for the word "xpcap" and put "spcap" instead.
