As you know, I am a BG veteran, but I started playing BG2 today.
My verdict is: BG 1 whips ass. ------------------ ![]() |

So , following that line of thought, would BG2 merely kick ass?

I had quit playing baldurs gate after finishing it a few years ago. I then started Tales of the Sword Coast until I started playing EQ full time. I had seen BG2 come out, but never gave it a shot. After seeing all the hype for BG2: the Throne of Bhaal; I had to give it a shot and started playing it again. I goofed around with BG2: the Shadows of Amn for about an hour one night and found the new additions to BG very appealing. The aspect I love the most about the game is finally I will be able to play my characters all the way to lvl 40. I replayed BG1 the past 2 weeks looking long term at what I want my characters to finish with. I play 3 PC and 3 NPCs in BG1. I will be able to make my Main characters a 9 fighter / 11 thief / 30 mage; a 11 ranger / 39 cleric and a lvl 40 cleric.
Before you get serious into playing BG2, envision what combo you would like to have later in the game. For now I'm saving BG2 for when I go on vacation in 2 weeks to visit my cousin and friend. We are going to play D&D like the old days. My opinion of BG2 for the hour I was playing around with it seemed to be a big winner. We might be looking for another player or two to join us from the beginning of BG2 (no hacked characters) from July 16-27. Monks, bards (kits), and the rogue (kits) look to be a nice new touch to the game. Glaivas Gastondale Deadshot Ranger |

I havn't played too much of BGI and I am only up to Chapter 3 in BGII but I think BGI is slightly better. Only because it has a more adventure like feel whereas BGII has a more hack and slash feel to it, IMHO. Don't get me wrong both are great games and I plan to play through both of them many times.
Right now i'm playing through BGI and then i'm gonna import my Ranger to BGII and play through that. It should be fun. |
