Edit:
The game doesn`t seem to work.
I excarctd it and ran liero.exe.
Then the DOS window showed and it said:

Loading & Thinkhing...OK
Initializing sound system...
BaseIO=0220h IRQ7 DMA=1 DMA16=7
DSP version4.13: 16-bit, Auto-Initialized
Extended memory succesfully initialized
Free XMS memory: 65535k Loaing sounds...Runtime Error 203 at 135c:OBEE.

Can anyone help?

According to the readme, that error means you dont have enough memory. The memory it refers to is base memory, not extended, which is why it cant get enough memory even though your have x-hundred Mb of RAM.

Which version of windows are you running, the fix for this varies depending on version.

Get a blank floppy, put it in the drive and bring up a dos box.

type

format a: \s

and say yes when it warns all data will be destroyed.

You might have to go into your BIOS (typicaly hit 'del' on reboot) and change the boot order to 'A,C,SCSI', these days its more common to see an order of 'C,CDROM,A' or suchlike.

Then whenever you boot the machine with that disc in the drive, it will boot to DOS and hopefuly with enough base memory free. If not we'll have to edit the autoexec.bat and config.sys , I'm hoping but the time you ask for that someone that can remember how to do it will be around. I could dig it up if needs be though.

Oh, and to load the game through DOS you'd typicaly type commands like:

d:
cd\games\liero
liero

Depending on which drive (you start on C, need to change if its on another) and which folder you put it in. If you get lost the command

dir liero.exe \s

will find it if its below you in the directory tree, and just plain

dir

will list the contents of the current directory.

Thanks. I will try.
Oh BTW what if i screw up something in BIOS? Can it cause any "real" damage to the system?

Set the wrong thing in BIOS and you can kill parts of your system in various entertaining ways, but as long as your careful you wont cause damage. Its only when you pull stunts like absent mindedly maxing your voltage settings or your FSB timings that things go wrong, changing the boot order is safe.
