And in the first innings of the World Cup final, the bold Aussies set records for :
1) Biggest score in a World Cup final 2) Biggest ever 50 over score for Australia 3) Largest partnership of any kind in the World Cup. Now the battle switches to the best batsman in the world against the best bowling attack in the world. Can the Aussie bowlers produce the Kryptonite, or will the legend of sub-continental superman take giant strides tonight. Bring it on ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited to include the Aussie score - 2 for 359 [ 03-23-2003, 07:08 AM: Message edited by: Davros ]

Well Sachin was a flop, but Ganguly is having a charge at it. It has to come off for many many over though, but he is keeping the run rate up.

OK - 2 down - Sourav's luck coudn't keep holding up.
An intersting thought - maybe they are going for the 25 over score and praying for rain? That would be a travesty of justice wouldn't it.

Can't keep slogging the way they have. If Sehwag falls and opens up the middle order I can't see them getting to this total with Dravid, Kaif et al.

Davros commentary continues - Sehwag run out - Lehman threw the stumps down. India are starting to run out of recognised batsmen and the run rate required is over 8 per over.

Dravid out played on - run rate required up to 9.5. Last recognised batsmen at the crease now.
Mind you those 3 dropped catches are contributing to a high pulse rate and blood pressure an my part.

Put a fork in it - it's done - AUSTRALIA ARE WORLD CUP CHAMIONS
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Eleven games, eleven straight wins - what a performance from a team that lost Steve Waugh (to a succession plan), Shane Warne (to a tablet) and Jason Gillespie (to injury). I want Nathan Hauritz's job - got an all expenses paid month long holiday in South Africa, never made it onto the field of play, and recieved $200,000 for his efforts. All he had to do was carry a few towels and drinks and roll a few gentle off-spinners down in the nets. I would have done all that for half that pay if they had asked me ![]()
