Penn and Teller go after Nostradamus :)

This weeks Episode of "Bull Shit!" was once again a very good expose` on this junk [img]smile.gif[/img] They really tore it up and revealed the scams behind Nostradamus and his groupy John Hoage or whatever his name is. An outstanding show that debunked Nostradamus, and several "End of Times", "The Last Days" and "Apocalypse" type cult books and followings. God I love this show.

Err one question for the Mods.....should this be posted in the Books and Movies forum? its not about books really or movies, but it is a weekly show...

Even in my short lifetime, I've seen so many "The end of the world is nigh - guaranteed!" promises fail to come to pass that I view any Nostradamus-esque predictions of the future with utter scorn. Sounds like a fun episode.

Horatio you can probably find some kind of brief description on Showtimes Web site, just look for the entry "Bull Shit!".

They (Penn and Teller) had compiled a list of all the times some nut job has declared that they unlocked the secret to Nostradamus or the writings in the last book of the Bible and knew the exact date of the end of the world...it took them a full minute to flip quickly through the cards they made up, it was quite a deck. They also exposed the hucksters, and how they make revisionist claims of past predicitons... If I could get a full transcript from this show I would be able to use a lot of it in my classes ...altho it would probably piss off my new agey profs.
