Maxamus posted that he is working on a new game which is d20 based.
I'm just writing to show support of it As a suggestion, I would not use the d20 as a tool to develop character stats - the range is too broad. The solution - either have a set number of points to distribute or have a priority chart. The point system is simple and pretty self explanitory. The priority system works by assigning priorities to things like stats, skills, money, magical ability, whatever Rank them in order with the higher order getting more points. Did that make sense? Ok, this is a good post to preview my Lancer engine, still needs tinkering, but this is waht is done (basics) (by the way, thanks for the support)
I hope the mods will let this live, it is BG2 based because its AD&D based, and come on, what better way to get a sprk goign aroudn here Anyway, heres the game so far: Name: Lancer Creator: Maxamus What is it?: A simple rpg, the gm has alot of control, but the players can really mold the world too. Your player character: Below is how you would buidl it Name: Story: Picture (optional): Race: Include soem new made up ones Class: basic D&D style classes with cool twists Stats: This part was tricky to figure out. I wanted soemthign more strait forward then D&D, so I went for a build up. If your a warrior, you had to be,at soem point, normal, so I set the four stats, strenth, health, agility, wisdom. Strenth: The basic muscle of a person Health: Determines HP, and constituion, resistecne to posion etc. Agility: Ones speed in anything, spell learning, combat dexterity Wisdom: Ones Intelligence and Enlightenemnt all stats start at ten, classes determine the rest, alogn with a 3 point add for instance, Warrirors get a -2 in agility and wisdom, but a +3 in Strenth. S:13 H:10 A:8 W:8 then certain times during gameplay,a quest that required much learning of that player, therw sidom increases, or a quest that requires you you push boulders woudl increase the strenth. Next is wepons profiences. Now you can only start with one, In Blade, Bow, Blunt, or Heavy Blunt. then as yuor experiance rizes, you add more prifences, but lets say you begin magic lessons, soem profiences might go down for you lack in them. The game is very nimble, fo instance, one might want to be a warrior at first, then , since he travles alone, develop some thief skills. But a wanderign Mage might have to become more warlike, to survive alone. The game is very absed aroudn the GM as well. He will be baically lord of all and all bow before him. He's the final and the first. He amde the world, and he can destroy it. You may say this is similliar to DnD, I would agree, thats why iam tinkering with it, any BASIC suggestions are welcoem though (no "why don't you make this spell do this and this and this, if this thread gets hot, I'lle xplain more advanced things later)
