My intial form of attack is to transform a mage of my party, either Aerie or Imoen, into a mindflayer. Using time stop of course. My question is, for those who have tried it, does this tactic work well, or does the flayer/NPC, end up swinging and hitting nothing, only to have time stop wear off and my npc become pooch food? Or does it take a ray of reversal and a few slaps and goodbye Draconis?

All attacks during a Time Stop are automatic hits.

Some being are immune to timestop - otherwise the game would be too easy

Yep! ArCunin got it right...the Ravager, the Final Boss (well you should know who it is by now but yeah), Demogorgon, and IIRC Balthazar are immune to Time Stop.

Balthazar is indeed immune to Time Stop, or at least Time Trap. I had Jan lay a bunch of these during the Balthazar fight, and then led B near them, planning to cast a bunch of Lower Magic Resistances. *BAM* Time Stopped, but Balthazar didn't. My Tank was frozen in time while B gleefully kicked the crap out of him--with only poor Jan to defend me. *sob*

when i finished the game, i did indeed notice the time stop problem with the final boss. however, and things may have just worked out this way, one time i did use time stop during the final battle, time stopped, the final boss was obviously unaffected, but all of my npcs were too far away from ti for it to attack them, at least that is how it appeared, as no damage was dealt. this may have been a random happening, but was wondering if anyone else noticed it before they realized it was dumb to cast time stop at the end.

sorry about the miserably cryptic form of this post, but i didn't want to stick in any major spoilers.

Balthazar immune?... hmm he wasn't when I fought him I casy time stop with 2 mages simultaneously and then threw all the energy blades I could at him. He died almost instantly after the time stop wore off. I don't know I can't explain why he wasn't immune but I don't cheat.

yes I remember that, sometimes Balthazar gets caught, but more often then not, he is able to move freely in timestop, i think it has something to do with 'faster then the eye' ability, of course I could be wrong...
