I forgot whether I post this message on this forum or the other...so Moderators plz forgive me if I reposted this topic...
----------- Here is my problem... Last year I played my CS relatively well with TNT-2 and 56k modem...my frame is normally 30~40 on a 16P server. But then few months ago, I formatted my HDD...then when I play...my fps fluctuates from 10~50 !! (50fps because I updated my nVidia driver) This is a huge effect on my gameplay, and forced to play with bots only because this situation only occurs when I am "ONLINE"... So: -not online = good fps: 30~50 -online = #$%^&* fps: 10~40 or 10~50 Anybody know what happened? My own guess is that I got a virus which commands my computer to do a regular download/upload action, making my computer to wrong low...but strangely, my pin won't change much...only my fps. ----------- You geniouses out there PLEASE help me~~~ Thankyou very much~~~ -----------

hey I live in Auckland too
![]() I would recommend you upgrade your computer, if you have an old computer CS is very picky about how it runs. Probably a good idea would be to turn off all other running programs before you start playing.

Possibly you modem is now using the standard windows driver, since windows is terrible at detecting modems. If you find out what modem your using, you can install the proper driver for it and probably get a more stable performance.
Also it might be worth checking your motherboard drivers, old mobo drivers can screw up the PCI bus and kill performance any number of ways.
