There have been RPG games released in two basic formats. The first person, i.e. you are looking out the eyes of the hero, and the third person, i.e. you are looking down on the action at 45Deg above. Neither form seems to be dominate with the game publishers. Which one do you perfer and why?

I generally prefer the first person mode. But the isometric view allows one to see all around at one time. Now lets hear your view.

Me for the 45 degree angle. I like to see what is going on around me, like in BG, BGII, and PS: T.

I agree with Attalus. Although I prefer most all other engines to that used in NWN.

Ill take either, but my preference is for a more tactical game - and that means Isometric. Just can plan properly in first person.

I like to control a party of characters in RPGs, and it's kind of hard to do that in a 1st person view. So my vote would go the 3rd person view.

Well some time ago I liked the 3rd person view the best. Now with surround sound I have to say 1st person view. It makes it so much more realistic. You don´t see an enemy coming from behind you hear him and have to turn. Now that´s gaming

what perspective i prefer really depends on the game. if its an RPG i prefer 3rd person wereas if its a shooting game like quake 3 then i'd definatly prefer 1st person.

3rd person behindviews like in PSO can be nice if the camera is simple to controll, otherwise i like it like the camera in Warcraft 3 and myth TFL/2

If I could, every in-game camera would be a TFL camera!
