Just wondering. I used to when I was younger, but don't anymore. Wonder if it is the same for others, something you may do when you are of a young age, but grow out of it?
I remember my parents telling me when I was 10 I almost went out the front door sleepwalking. They asked me what I was doing, and I said "going outside to play" like it was no big deal, and they said, "well why don't you just go back to bed" and I obeyed and just went back to bed LOL (they didn't want to wake me cause they heard that messes a person up, which to this day I have never concluded whether that was true or not). Then when I was 14 I'd "half" SleepWalk. I'd wake up like a half hour after I went to bed, after a night of partying with friends (no, no drugs or booze associated LOL, I was 14), and would be convinced this guy was in my room. I'd be telling him outloud "you gotta go you can't be here, my parents will wake up, go home!" standing up beside my bed too, yelling this out LOL till my parents got up and said "who are you talking to?", then I'd really wake up and come to my senses, and had absolutely no answer for them. I would just climb back into bed, then they'd figure it out and leave and go back to bed themselves LOL. I also remember when I was between 13 and 15 I would sometimes wake up in my bed in the middle of the night totally in the wrong place on my bed. Out of the covers, my head was at the footboard or on the side of the bed. I remember those disoriented times when I'd wake up and realize I wasn't on any pillow, and kinda grope around in the dark until I navigated back to where I was supposed to be on the bed, and back under the covers. What was goin on there LOL? What the heck was I doing?? don't ask me, cause I haven't a clue LOL. So what about yall? Any sleep/sleepwalking stories you have? Please tell so I don't feel like a unique freak LOL! [ 10-10-2002, 10:54 PM: Message edited by: ladyzekke ] |

But seriously, I don't sleepwalk but I have always sleeptalked/laughed etc and still do.
My wife has a completly different language that she uses only while asleep - usually shouting it out as she jumps out of bed - then calmly hops back in and is all normal sleeping again... |

My older brother used to. It was freaky...he'd walk out of the house in just his underwear and with his eyes open. Usually stepping out into the snow or rain would wake him up LOL.
I think mom always stopped him before he ever went out when the weather was nice though but I don't ever remember her waking him, just guiding him into turning around and heading him back to his room. My ex in Tucson did tell me I sat up on my knees in bed one night and asked him for water in Spanish. He said that I looked like someone else completely, more American Indian than Spanish though and that when he came back with my water, I had already layed back down and gone back to sleep. I woke up the next morning with my kidneys in so much pain from dehydration that it took me a few minutes before I could get up to get some water for myself. Apparently, I talk (or mumble as my parents say) in my sleep. It's been mentioned to me a few times, but I guess as I've gotten older, I've become quieter because people say they see my lips moving but don't really hear anything. This is all just what people have told me though, as I've never caught myself doing it.

My mom told me that when she was my age, and had just married my dad...after they moved off the naval base...they settled into a little yellow house where a park was nearby. She slept in a long white gown. Well, she frequently slept-walked...and one day she made it all the way to the park and was running through the field. That night was wet with dew and cool...and teh dampness was causing the whole field to be white with fog on the ground. Some people saw her running and swore that they were looking at a ghost! They ran and told everybody and everything, but never could locate the source of the strange apparition. To this day, the older people in town think that the field is still haunted!
She used to go hang out in the neighbors' yards too. She'd wake up on their back poarch and stuff.

Larry, that's a great story! Wonder if they tell the 'ghost' tale around Halloween in that town!

I don't sleep walk as much as I did when I was younger, but it's not unusual for me to wake up, once every week or so, in the middle of the night while I'm checking the locks on the doors, making sure the stove is off, looking for my car keys, etc. (Thank goodness I always wake up just after I find my car keys
![]() I also talk in my sleep. My wife's learned to ignore it. When we were first married, she told me she used to stay up late to see if I'd tell any secrets, but she quickly gave up because I wasn't speaking English...lol ![]() Anything someone does while awake can be done while asleep....I promise Also, alcohol and stress greatly influence the frequency of these events(at least for me).
