I am taking a fantasy literature class and the first book we are reading is THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING. How cool is that? Then later on in the course I have to do some sort of oral presentation on epic fantasy targeting Robert Jordan's The Wheel Of Time. This class is going to be awesome.

lucky In school all we get to read is "The red pony" and other stuff like that. My teachers don't credit us with a lot of intelligence, either, so a 100 page book has 6 weeks of lessons to explain it.
But then again, we did Lord of the Flies this year. That's a really good book. Fantasy litreture classes? I have to enrole in one of those!

Dude, although I find you lucky now that I have read the books, had I been in your shoes back then, I would have tore my hair out. One thing I could never understand when I was at school was why those damn Lord Of The Rings books were so popular and why the hell there were always so many of them. Funny thing is that my doctor recommended them to me (he's a great family friend so don't think nothing of it dammit!) about 2 years ago otherwise I'd still hate the damn things...heh

To bad the movie leaves out a chunk of book i missed not seeing Tom Bombail. As for the class just hope you don't have to annilize all the literary techniques and illutions or you will be on the first book when the semester ends.

I thought 'to kill a mockingbird' was a great book, and Silas Marner was OK. If you want something to complain about try reading "the awakening". All we read my senior year in my advanced placement english class was what I consider to be feminist trash. Not to say I am against feminism and women's rights and such, which I am most definitely for, just that the books we read were just trash, and they happened to all be about feminism. If I see another Jane Austin book, or "tess of the durbervilles(sp)" again I'm going to grab it and toss it in the closest fire I can find. Those are the kind of books that make me reconsider my opinion of "farenheight 451". Im so glad I lucked out and got a cool class this time.
