Bah... don't panic folks.

Polio is not a lethal danger. Outbreaks of this disease still occur in developping countries and you can get the immunization for cheap in every travel clinic. No need to go through all the scientists have done to obtain this virus. Just go to an african health center and bribe a local medic to give you a blood sample from a diseased person... Total cost: 20-500$ plus airplane ticket.

But IF they could genetically engineer smallpox, then that would be a real armaggedon. This disease is non-existent, so there is no possible immunization. Especially since the lab varieties the US and Russia still keep must be highly engineered for military purposes.
If any info on smallpox DNA appears, it would have leaked out from one these two sources... I doubt they sequenced its DNA before it was eradicated in the late 60s.

“The reason we did it was to prove that it can be done and it now is a reality,” said Dr. Eckard Wimmer, leader of the biomedical research team. Wimmer is the co-author of a report on the research, published Thursday by the journal Science on its Web site, Science Express.
Why can`t that assh*le research on something that is GOOD he? No they must research only on bad things those SCIENTISTS uffff! So they can HELP terrorist`s to be even more nastyer than they are today!
