Wizards oughta make a movie about Drizzt. What is everyone's suggestion for that. Which novel should they base it on or should they just make a whole new story (written by Salvatore of course ).

If a new one, i think something with Artemis Entreri in it is a must and probably with flashbacks to his time in Menzoberanzan.

actually I think homeland would be a great movie, as would the halflings gem, however given how badly the d&d movie did it's unlikely to get funding from anyone, unless they're trying to hype the movie as the next LoTR, which, as entertaining as Bob Salvatore is, he's no Tolkien.

BTW this should be in the books and movie forum

Tolkien is good, but his stories aren't as vivid as Salvatore, in my opinion at least. Close but not close enough to top Bobby. And yeah Homeland would be exelent.

except that with a few exceptions if you've read one salvatore fight scene you've read them all, it tends to follow a very similar formula. And yes I am a salvatore fan, he's the only reason I gave the forgotten realms another chance after reading Mouldering Goblin Dung by Ed Greenwood (good game designer, very poor author). and has anyone tried to run the module by him that comes with the revised FR campaign setting, it has 1st and 2nd lvl characters against drow, and an abolith(toned down so as not to cause instant death to the party) all the monsters use drow sleep poison (-4 to saving throws or slep for 2d4 hours) there's no reasonable way any party can survive more than 1 or 2 encounters in the module without EXCESSIVE cheating by players or DM's (grrr sorry I know I should be venting in the books forum)

This should be in the books, movies and tv show disscusion forum but whilst we are on the subject here is abit of juicy info to wet your appetite. Salvatore has recently been hired by Fireworks to write the stories to a new TV series based on the forgotten realms, which by strange coincidence just happens to be called Forgotten Realms.

Read the article here: http://www.rasalvatore.com/fireworks.html

Also there has been talk that Salvatore wishes to use this oppotunaty to write a short mini film based on the Drow, prehaps this could mean we might see the exploits of everyones favourite Drow Ranger on the Big screen after all , or prehaps not we will just have to wait and hope.

Tolkien used to be my favourite author until i read Salvatore's works, now Tolkiens works seem long and overdrawn and ultimatly in some parts a little boring, in not saying Tokien isn't great just not as great as he once was too me. Lots of people will curse and hate me for writting such a thing but it's just my oppoinion

I have one word about that...w00t!

And I also agree the Salvatore is a better writer then Tolkien, because Tolkien does tend to draw some things out a little longer then other writers, and i like Drizzt and the FR setting better then the LOTR setting
