Oh yes, this chick is good. Very good. Her thieving skills are sufficient to make any other theif unneccesary, although they arent as spectacular as they used to be. Damn Amnish locksmiths...

Then her mage skills - well i woudnt have her as primary mage since shes about 1/2 million XP behind Nalia, but as a secondary she is excellent.

As a fighter - well if you put her in the front line she is screwed, but keep her on the flanks and shell handle hereself well enough. You have given her that upgraded elven chain havent you?

My thoughts excactly! Also as a backup mage Imoen is fantastic AND you don't need to use the other short and annoying NPC who loves turnips....

Actually, I pulled off a first...having a reasonably leveled Imoen when I picked her up!

Yep! You CAN actually do this! I went for her right away...My PC was a lvl 9 ranger dualed to a level 9 cleric (he got 10th level on his cleric has soon as we unlocked the big face at the end of the first half of spellhold), a lvl 10 Keldorn, a level 10 Valgar, and a level 10 ilusionist/11 thief Jan. Meaning that Imoen started at the bottom of 11th level...which is good in this party!

As much as I really love Imoen (I have her in my party for unlocking and unarming stuff, basically....) she is USELESS in battle. I have a magical party, I've got plenty of mages, clerics and fighters. Without an exception, in a hard battle Imoen is ALWAYS the first one to die. It's almost like all the bad guys target her....

Not so with me.i have her safe in the rear to fire her bow or blast away with spells. She is the character with the less deaths in my game.-protagonist excluded-.
The only problem is during a magic heavy battle. Those nasty abiDalzims seem to affect her the hard way!

Actually I went along with Imoen more for storyline reasons than for actual gameplay. But she's ok. Her stats make her a competent theif as well as a competent mage. Give her a short bow (Tansheron or gesen) and she'll do ok if she runs out of spells.
