US special forces report finding evidence of chemical weapons at a suspected Al-Queta training camp in northern Iraq according to MSNBC.

I know that a US report about the finding of chemical weapons in Iraq, especially when associated with Al-Queta in any way, shape, or form, will be discounted "out of hand" by many, but still it is being reported.

Could well be.
It's an area that SH has not been in control of since 1993.

So far I've only heard that they US forces found 'chemicals' - they haven't been identified (according to local Kurds and 'embedded' reporters) - for all we know they might have been household cleaners

And as Skunk correctly pointed out - SH haven't cortrolled that area of the country for years.

Ah, but you can't blame us for being cautious and skeptical about these kinds of reports - something similar has been reported before, and that turned out to be nothing as well. We'll just have to wait and see if it's different this time around.

Of course not Groj, that clarification I added was meant to be mostly tongue in cheek.

I saw this story on the "ticker tape" scrolling headline last night, but never heard the announcer address the story. I haven't heard anything else about it since last night. Maybe another "spoke too soon"?

It's true that Saddam isn't in control there but the chemicals were found in areas that were until recently controlled by the terrorist group Ansar al-Islam who had links with Saddam and al-quaida. They had been attacking the Kurds in northern Iraq.
