Public Breastfeeding

I have no problems with Breastfeeding in public. I do consider it common courtesy however to just place a towel or blanket over the baby and exposed body part however, especially in restaurants. You get those few who just decide to slap it out there exposed for all to see before they are even ready to have little Johnny latch on.

I have nothing against public breastfeeding either - and most women are "discreet" about it.

However, the wife of one of my best buddies breastfed their kids - and even though we were all good friends and she used a towel to cover herself, I always felt awkward when I went to visit and she was feeding the baby.

So my buddy and I would usually just go on to another room and leave her in private.

I get uncomfortable around women breastfedding. Or, jealous. Go figure.

On topic here- we have several mothers who breastfeed at church and they're incredibly discreet (with blankets or cloths over everything). Most of the time they just go to another room.

I do have to admit I was a bit surprised to see a lady at a local apple festival just lift her shirt and situate her baby on one breast (no blanket or other cover) in the middle of the cafe area near the path where everyone walked by. I don't think that's quite as common a thing here as she seemed to think it was. [img]smile.gif[/img]
