SPOILER
- - - - - - - I just ventured into those woods with all the basilisk, and found that ghast that promises it will be your friend and won't hurt you (which plays on for a while, until he gets a little TOO hungry). I found, that the basilisk cannot petrify the ghast, and that both of us could beat on them for some major experience. I probably ended up killing at least 7 before he turned on me.. *sigh* there were still basilisk to be killed! Has anyone else found a better way of killing basilisk besides the help of an undead helper? I don't have any Clerics in my party, so that's why I'm asking. I have a Paladin as my protagonist.. but that doesn't help, only AGAINST the undead. I thought Paladin's were supposed to be immune to petrification? And why did they take basilisks out in BG2? Because Protection from Petrification is a lvl 1 spell? Alright, I've said what I came here for, so do you have any advice for me? I had to edit your post coz this was a little spoiler (telling about the ghast, the creatures, etc). When you post info that can spoil other peoples games, mark it clearly ok ?? ![]() thanks [This message has been edited by Ertai_OHF (edited 06-17-2001).] |

Just cast Protection from Petrification on one or two fellas that will attack in the front. I the bakground archers and mages can hurl whatever they wish on them.

They are easy, wait til u meet a Greater Basilisk.
My tactic against Greaters, and therefore normals,is to cast Horror or use the wand of fear. This makes them scared, and they don't attempt to petrify you. Then you just use tanks to attack. ------------------ ![]() |

Hehe. I did meet a few Greater Basilisks.. There were the same as the Lesser, except a little harder to hit.. I killed 2, I think.. so that left about 2 left in the area, right?

There's also a potion that stops gaze attacks, that ehlps.
Personally, I tend to cast the protect from petrification spell (last time I used one scroll and one memorised spell) on my two tanks and let them lead the way round. The baslilisks will concentrate their attacks on them while the rest of party attacks using ranged waepons. You can make it round all the basilisks on that map in the durtation of the spells but its a close run thing! Best to purchase a couple of stone to flesh scrolls from the temple next to Beregest in case any of your party do get zapped though. Actually, this does let you garner a load of exp. points really easily. Guess you're learning the lesson that it doesn't matter how devistating the attack, if you're immune to it, you just walk all over them! ------------------ Fear? I know not the meaning of the word. And you can keep that dictionary away from me! |

The Potion of Mirrored Eyes will allow you to stomp them flat. It makes you immune to Basilisk Gaze attacks. Doesn't do snot for some other critters though...like the one in the basement in Ulgoths Beard. Sheesh!
