Okay, I have a two part need.
#1) When I select use default homepage in the configuration of explorer, I get an old webpage that I want removed. I can rekey anythin g I want in as the new default, but when I select the use default button, I get the old site again. How do I clear that out?

#2) When Napster went down I deleted it from my Program files instead of going to add/remove programs. Now that the uninstall is no longer there..the add/remove programs feature will not remove the Napster name from the list of running programs, even though the program no longer exists. How can I erase it and other programs that are no longer in my system from that list?

#2...that'd be a Start/Run (type in) regedit
In Regedit, click Edit, then Find-(type in) Napster.
"Enter" starts the search, the delete key brings up the delete option (click yes on all entries related to Napster...if you look where it is finding them, you'll see it listed in the add/remove programs list)...F3 automatically continues the search for the next entry rather than clicking on find and find next constantly.

I am so bad...staying up past my bedtime again.
I need to go lol
Good Night and Good Luck Larry!

With the default thing- its something programmed into IE. I assume it defaults to the Microsoft website ?? Thats because its a microsoft program. Its impossible to change the Windows Defaults, and IE is a necesary part of Windows from 98 on.

ok, here is the answer to the default homepage question.
click: Start | Run
type in : regedit
open:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Int ernet Explorer\Main
in this folder you will find the key "Default_Page_Url"
Right click on it, and Modify
type in what you want
tada

Or you can just go to Properties for IE. Type in the url you want to use for the default. Click on apply. Now it will use the url you typed in as the default one. Don't click on use default. That is how I do it for my computer and it works.
