Cmon guys, there has been a chaotic atmosphere here on Iron Works lately. I mean you know topics about, race, religion, views of Americans, it will all start commotion, arguements, and people will get mad at each other. I mean just look at before, I never said anything bad, I was posting nice replies, funny topics, laughing here and there, and having fun. But some of us hold our religion, and race and views very strongly, and if we will discuss it, we all will try and discussing it in a neutral, mature manner, but then when things get fired up it will get hot in here...

I apologise if anything I said offended anyone, but as I said, try and go nice about it, at one point you'll snap... And well, topics about Religion and race and all of that will always start commotions and arguments, its a fact proven with History...

Yes, people have had a tendancy of posting threads about "disturbing" subjects, seemingly only to 'cause an arguement, leading to some members getting suspended for instance..
But, as I said in another thread, I still think people should be able to post without offending someone, and if someone do get offended, that person shouldn't argue about it, just let it go..
Pm the offender and tell him that you were offended, he/she might not realize they did offend someone

, or just let it be..

Here's something that might help you, Durwyn. We call them our Ironworks Mantras.

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. This is the cornerstone around which the concept of freedom of speech is built, as long as it is done with respect for others.
Debating at Ironworks is not about winning or losing, rather it's about expressing a point of view and listening to another person expressing theirs. There is no shame in agreeing to disagree when the argument starts to go nowhere.
Don't take things personally. Life's too short to get upset about another person's point of view.
If you can't handle people disagreeing with you, then don't get into a debate - you will not enjoy it and it will cause us problems.
A controversial viewpoint expressed politely, tactfully and respectfully will have a better chance of being accepted than a mainstream viewpoint expressed rudely and disrespectfully.

I know everyone loves a good spirited debate, since most of you are quite strongly opinionated, if somewhat tactless about expressing opinions, serenely confident in your righteousness and in the other's wrongness. This is not a problem unless you start making snide remarks about each other which don't have anything to do with the topic at hand, as this usually leads to shouting profanities at each other, which then becomes a problem. However, I'm sure will not happen, given that we're all VERY good at exercising self-control, right?

Just remember that two of the most difficult things to do on the internet are: 1) admit that you can't change the other person's point of view; and 2) accept that failing to change the other person's point of view does NOT mean they are better than you.

Heh, how bloody true. Of all the debates I've had on all the boards I've been on, I've never ever seen anybody change their opinion. :-/

I try to never get involved in political and race discusions/debates/outright wars as I hold some very strong and definite views. But from time to time a good debate is an invigorating experience, just aslong as it doesnt get out of hand and people get offended.
