This is a tiny bit spoilerish if you haven't done any Keldorn quests, although this hardly qualifies as a quest. With several posts lately talking about alignment, I was wondering about people's reactions to Keldorn's behavior re: his wife's infidelity. According to that society's laws, I guess he did behave according to the law, and according to what he perceived to be good (lawful good), but what about his daughters? He has his wife hanged and leaves his daughters parentless to go and play with your party. This behavior I guess would qualify as fanatical. Extreme good can suddenly seem extremely sick. I'm guessing a chaotic good character would have been less hung up on the laws and more concerned about his family. Any thoughts?

Yeah, you have a point, good actions can quick lead to sick actions.
But that's why I always choose the other option in that quest, to not hang his wife.

see ya!

I forgot there were other options. I think I just didn't want to P him off, and I've always respected people with convictions stronger than my own, so I didn't interfere. I also assumed there would be no reasoning with him. And as a chaotic neutral character, I sometimes like to allow death, muggings, etc. I hate being of a non-good alignment and then always doing the good thing.

Do not forget that Keldorn is a noble. As such, he would have caretakers and tutors for his children, at least until they are of age for introduction into society. In many past cultures, it would not have been improper for Keldorn to be allowed to mistreat his wife and her adulterous partner as he pleased.

Yes, in that time noble could do anything to cheating wife.

As for his behavior, I agree about it being fanaticism.

The tipical action of a chaotic good would be to not care, they hate laws end restraint. A chaotic good character might be infidel himself, and most likely would never want to mary.

A neutral good character would think about the well being of his familly before any law or regulation, so he would never kill his wife over that, since it is not such a bad offence as to warant death and it would create grief for his daughter.

Hmmm, History is replete with examples of noble well meaning leaders who are forced to realize that they have lost sight of their duty and have failed in some respect and realize they need to be merciful and make ammends. I am surprised that no one else chose the other option after confrontiong Lord whatever his name was in the bar in Waukeen's Prauminade. Alot of people seem to forget that being lawful good and noble and all that other stuff, doesn't mean that such people can't be made to realize that they too have erred and should be merciful.
I followed the merciful path, where Keldorn is forced to realize that despite his honor, his nobility, he had also failed his family, as he did not find a proper balance between his family, duty and his honor. We spared the Lord, I allowed Keldorn to return home to his family as requested so that he could repair the damage to his family and re-unite them. After a short time, he is fully prepared to rejoin the group.
Those of us who play as fighters and get the Keep as our stronghold come to realize that adhering striclty to the order of the code or the law, will not get you XP's and rewards associated with quests. Those options are available and often lead to problems leading your people. The options where supposed honor, code and law are viewed with mercy and compassion and a balanced choice is settled upon are the ones where the XP's and rewards come from. Your choice though..

Let me put it simply: If i caught my husband with another woman....well i'd hang the woman, then beat my husband senseless

as did I.

I gave him some time off with the kids to visit the circus. Unforunately after that I added him back into my party and he just buggered off while entering the druid grove.

I never found him again until the TOB Pocket Plane.
