I'm hoping someone on here can recommend something new for me. I don't play PC games all that often but when I do I devote pretty much every spare minute to it. I think I'm about ready for something new.
In the last couple of years I played the BG trilogy and absolutely loved it. I really wish it could go on and on. I then got the Neverwinter nights platinum edition thinking it would be similar, but was quite disappointed. I really miss the BG style gameplay and think they are much more important than graphics.
I've also played Icewind Dale.
Does anyone have any suggestions for something similar I could sink my teeth into now?

KotOR I and II is much closer to the BG experience than NWN, because you control multiple characters, have access to abilities and all that cool stuff from the BG games, as well as a great story, but in a futuristic setting(Star Wars). Plus, I think a Revival project made a new version available recently, but I don't know for sure.
If you are a tactics nut, you might want to give Temple of Elemental Evil a try. Be sure to download the patch, as the game has a few bugs and stuff.
Have you played Icewind Dale 2? If not, do that first.

A couple more obvious choices if you're addicted to the isometric view:

Arcanum (I've not played it yet...)
Fallout 1&2 (Turn based combat...brilliant games)
Lionheart (I've not played this either, but its the last of the infinity engine related games...you might want to track it down for completion's sake, but I have heard it falls down dreadfully towards the end.)

Temple of Elemntal Evil is worth a shot, but it is buggy and very short. The combat engine itself was enjoyable though and an improvement from ubisoft's horrible Ruins of Myth Drannor.

Also if you don't mind older games, I thoroughly reccomend Ultima's IV-VII. U7 in particular created the benchmark for this kind of story-driven 'virtual world' as far as cRPGS go.

Have fun!
Cheers,
CD

Reason I didn't mention Arcanum, Lionheart(besides the fact it sucks) and Fallout is that in those games you control only one player. But if you really want to, give those a try. Fallout is the timeless classic, Arcanum is Fallout in the past with better graphics and Lionheart is a shitty game even more in the past with even better graphics.

I'd go with Planescape Torment. It's an infinity engine game, and it has the best story and dialogs of them all.

If anyone here knows where and how to get U7 to run on XP Id be much obliged. I know there have been several attempts to recreate the game with updated game engines but I have not heard of anything that was ever completed.

I know that it was a very popular game but was never followed up on later as they lost the friggin source code for the game!!!! yeah hard to imagine they could do that...but yup Gariot and Co. lost it.

Have you tried Abandonia? Lots of old games there. With instructions on how to run them.
