I've been searching for this escaped slave around Suran and have been bribing people for any sort of lead on his whereabouts. I know he is somewhere in the forest (the one to the west I think) but have failed to locate him. Anybody know his whereabouts?

He isn't in the forest.

Clue: he's hiding in plain sight.

What I love about Morrowind is that you can read books from all around, talk to people to gain trivial information that is a nice bonus to you. For instance, noone really tells you how to fight Daedras, but through reading two separate books you come to understand that their main weakness is fire. So anyway, you can find some dictionary-type books to translate stuff from Haj-ei's language(I forgot the race' name) to your own. You can also talk to people for the same hint, or you can read and pronounce your quest log entry real carefull for a hint.

yeah, I like the books in morrowwind, too. I read this one called "trap" about a thief who thought he could rob a caravan of rich ppl. Now I'm looking around to see if I can find this caravan.

has anyone read the one called "N'gath N'gat N'arthe" (or something like that...)

In answer to the thread topic, I know where he is, he's in plain sight (like was already said by J'aran) but I don't know how this helps, bcz I know it, and it even said something about it to me while playing so my character knows it... But I still can't do anything about it. Maybe I'll go look around and talk to ppl in Suran...

Talk to Bielle ( Earthly Delights ) for the quest. Then talk to slave trader Dranas Sarathram. Then talk to Hides His Eyes ( upper floor of the Tradehouse ) then talk to Bielle.

Haj-Ej is eventually ''Hides-His-Eyes''. With Intelligence 90, the quest will be finished quickly, because it is obvious... And if you are Argonian, the quest will be finished too, cause every argonian knows the argonian language.
Check the Latin too.

Welcome Arthasks to the Ironworks forums and to our morrowind forum. We can always use another helping hand.

First His Name is "Hides-His-Foot" not Hides-his-Eyes.
He is located on the property of Dren Plantation in the south west corner, not far from lake hairan close to the southern gates of the plantation. he wanders around in that area. Sometimes he is inside the gates and sometimes he is outside of the gate or the opening in the wall and he is always standing on the road or just to the side of it. That's where I have always found him the past 10 or 12 times I've played through the game.
Good luck.

P.S.

more Directions if starting from Suran.

Head north west toward Bal Ur and cross the bridge headed west just befor you reach Bel UR.
Stay on the road west toward Pelagiad until you reach the first fork.
Take the left fork until you reach the next crossroad and take the left road southwest to the Dren Plantation.
When you reach the plantation start talking to the Khajiit slaves outside the front gate, I found Hide-His-Foot there in front once.
From this point you just need to talk to everyone until you find him.

If you still can't find him then your doomed LOL.

SPOILERS!!!
Hides-His-Foot is a whole other character for a whole other quest. The Argo you're looking for is not in the forest, or on the plantation. He is in Suran, in the pub. His name is Hides-His-Eyes, or Haj-Ej.
EDIT: Clarity and spelling..
