/Spoily-doilies/ I had heard that there were certain elevators in Trynton that could drop you to a screaming death, but I never had this problem until I took my W7 import team through. We had gone to take the elevator from the Rattkin Tree to the little area where you can lower a rope down to the around-Trynton area. On the way down the evilator started shaking and next thing I new 4 of my characters and Myles were dead! Luckily the survivors had landed on a rail and there were enough Resurrection powders to go around, and after everyone had been brought back to life and healed up we were able to hop onto the walkway without any problem.

My questions are, 1) is the Rattkin Tree-Upper Branches elevator the only Hellevator, or are there others? 2) if there are others, where are they? 3) those Helligators, does anyone else not like them, or is it just me?

That elevator is the main one IMHO which can crush your party. I always save whenever I have to use it, either going to the area with the rope and also when coming back to the rattkin tree.

I don't recall any problems with the other Trynton elevator at the start of the tree but perhaps I've been lucky.

There are other areas in the game where yiu can be crushed, reason enough not to play Iron Man. There are 'holes' in the the game where your party steps through and are crushed such as in one of the retro dungeons (forget which one).

Usually that elevator gives us a problem if we have the game set to show pop up skill increases. I have forgotten many times to turn that feature off when using that elevator.

Invariably some one identifies some creature as the party uses the elevator which sort of suspends the party in midair or I get that jerky motion you mention. No matter how quickly I click the message off the party then goes tumbling to their doom.

Normally if I have the pop up feature turned off I can use that elevator without problem.

None of my parties ever wound up on a rail though. Maybe the party wasn't quite all the way on the elevator or something.

One time they wound up in midair unable to move in any direction some where below the elevator and I had to reload the game. They were just hanging there, no deaths, just suspended by their suspenders off a branch sticking out I suppose.

Actually, I was embarrassed to admit my brashness, but after the crash I took the Darth Vator again, and wound up suspended in mid-air as you say. Fortunately the game hadn't autosaved, so I quit and was back on the ledge.

Krull: my second IM incarnation of the LOTR party ended when I decided to drunkenly dance on He'Li's bar. We fell behind the bar and couldn't get out without attacking He'Li, and I decided I didn't want to be the murderers of Arnika, so I had to start over.

Most of the other places where I can get crushed I THINK I know about, so I stay away from them in IM. Also, I have been crushed by the Umpani obstacle course and reloaded the game to find myslef in front of the spikes that crushed me, so I suspect IM crushing death is only permanent if you have fallen into a continuously-crushing area, which I suspect the Retro Dungeon area is.

Oh, and speaking of tragic falls, *SPOILER WARNING*, I had also heard that it was possible for your ascending party to come crashing down. This happened to me with the same party I was describing above, and while I was showing my brother the ending. I personally think it happened because I insisted on bringing Myles along, and when the old Cosmic Lords saw he was going to ascend they were too disgusted too allow it to happen. The last statement of the game was, "I've got to do something about these wounds." Oh, and right after we defeated the Savant, Myles said, "Why did I ever agree to go with you guys?" Talk about a Sulky Suzie!

Unsure if you already know this but on Flamestryke's site above she does point out on individual maps where there are these 'holes' which result in being crushed to death. For example, go to the Portal on the website, and look at the map for the Cemetery Retro dungeon.

A fun thing to do with helligators is cast insane on them, and then cast razor cloak on one in range. Very satisfying.

I think, the problem with this elevator comes from the patroling 'hidden' rattkin. Maybe my graphic card is too slow at this point. Sometimes, your party stops for a moment until the patrols are redrawn, and then they aren't standing on the elevator anymore, and fall to the ground (and to death, unless you have a valkyrie).

Nowadays, i don't use this elevator until i've killed the rattkin. Never had problems with the elevator in this case.

The "drop on ascension" is a common thing and often happened to my parties. Doesn't matter who is or is not in the group. Most of mine had no NPC's but they fell anyway.

Never went on the outside elevator myself. However, I've had parties crushed on the regular elevator in the tree, the descending platform to Z'ant, and a few mishaps climbing up to the Cryptkeeper. I suspect in each case it was a matter of positioning. Sometimes the game can be very picky.
