I used to think I understood why it was that the Trynnies in and around Trynton would be yellow (in which case they would run from fights and attack if you talk to them) or green (in which case they fight on your side and say meaningless one-liners if you talk to them). I thought it was just a function of whether you had Sparkle in the party with you (green if yes, yellow if no). Having just met my end in Trynton (with Sparkle) thanks to some annoyed Trynnie Hunters and some Leaf Sprites, I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask for the next party.
What is it that controls the color coding for the Trynnie? Should I keep my party below a certain level when wandering around there? |

Uhhhh, they should be green regardless. I'm not sure if agreeing to help them has anything to do with it, as I have never NOT agreed to help them.
If you attack them, they will turn hostile, but otherwise, I don't know why they would.

Who is in your party (or not in your party) doesn't matter. I never took Sparkle, for instance, and the Trynnies were always friendly.
If you kill the chief, the Trynnies will not like you. I did do that once, just to see the result. They didn't like me ![]() I know my party in some fights accidentally hit Trynnies between us and the monsters, and the Trynnies didn't turn on the party. Sometimes you run into Trynnie Outcasts and Outlaws (usually on the way to Trynton); you can kill them by the bucketload and no one in Trynton cares. Perhaps you're Rapax Templars? Maybe that might do it. Otherwise, offhand, I can't think of a reason why they'd be neutral (yellow) when you arrived. But I'm sure someone else here can give you a reason or two. |

Hmmmm....
I didn't attack any Trynnies (even accidentally), and I was not affiliated with Rapax (haven't even been to Rapax territories) so it can't be those. Any other thoughts? |

It's possible you let too many get killed (not by you). I think it happened to me once in Trynton and I reloaded an earlier save where they stayed green. I had stayed out of range as they got slaughtered. I think that goes for the Umpani as well but I am guessing. I don't know what the magic number is, maybe 10 allies before they turn yellow. An outside chance: just as the Trangs can turn on you for no good reason, there may be a very small chance it can happen with other allies. Except for the Trang and the Trynnie, I have never seen this.

You don't have to "attack" them; if you accidentally hit one with a missile miss (or a spell backfires and they happen to catch some of it) and then one is killed--even by an enemy--your faction rating drops.
Because they're always getting in the way, i've killed many on purpose, with Death Clouds etc. and in places where others couldn't see the action, and they never turned, even when it amounted to many dozens. [ 09-28-2004, 06:57 PM: Message edited by: Scatter ] |

Forgive the "bump" but I have a new working theory that I'd love people to react to: I just ventured to Trynton again (w/ L7 characters) and this time, the Trynnies were green. What I didn't do this time was deal with the graveyard. My thought is that if you defeat the various Trynnie undead there, you ruin your standing in Trynton. Seems a little counterintuitive, especially since you're restoring the graveyard to "holiness" but it's my best guess. Any thoughts from the assembled masses?

I bashed those trynnie spirit skulls in before I went to Trynton, they were still green.
Besides, it'll tell you if your rating with any faction goes down, this includes trynnies.
