Sword of 4 winds

This is new to me; not the sword but the location. I usually only find it in the chest of the room with the pressure plate. But this time I found it in the chest at the dead end of the lower lvl. The one with the skeleton and the empty bottle next to it! So there is a small chance you could "wind" up with 2!

I have got it twice at the slime chest (bottle). Got some other good stuff but rarely. Sometimes I get almost nothing at all there. Talk about a range! I make a special trip to get there and get riches maybe 1/3 time, else garbage.

I always kill Kunar early and save before entering Mt Gigas. Then i run to the pressure plate, drop a dart or an arrow, do the combat and open the chest. If the sword's not there I reload.
Finding it in the other loacation was just a bonus for me.
PS. I didn't try too hard to get it this time since no one can use it anyway.

Sword of 4 winds. 12-32 dmg, 2 handed, +2 to hit -3 in., kill 2%, drain stamina 10%, casts asphyxiaton. Useable by FLVRSN, all races. Put the Staff of Doom in a fighters hands and realy see some serious carnage.

I've never ended up keeping any 2-handed, short-ranged weapon. The only one i've used for very long at all has been Avenger, mostly because of its positive initiative factor. Any weapon with a negative Init will reduce your swings-per-round, which is even worse if it also occupies both hands.

The thing is that you can get pretty early in the game. Like I said I'm usually around lvl 8-9; pretty good sword at that lvl!

Yah, around then i'm happy enough with Hearts and Enchanted Broadswords (and Bushido if i have a Sam) that i don't bother with reloading for anything else that's random until it's time to try for Light or Muramasa.

I just found the "Phrygian Cap" in the Rapax Castle. It's nothing great (+4) but I've never seen it (not even in the strategy guide) so I thought I'd mention it. It's not cursed and can be worn by all except Ninja, Mage, Monk and Psi and duh Fairies!

Of course. Faeries lose out on alot of stuff. They are just faeries. This was a bit tongue in cheek. Whatever. They are quite good in a party, as I am finding out with Faerie sam and nin. Lev 18 now, they are deadly.
