I was wondering, how do you earn enough money to pay for all the training and other things in this game other than stealing everything in site? I finished all the quests for the fighters guild in Balmora and was told to seek other duties in I think vivec fighters guild. Now I did not earn much money or many items from the balmora quests and the same seems to hold true for all the mage guild quests in balmora. I'm just not earning enough money to pay for all the training I'd like.

Trying to practise my major and minor skills seems a hard task. I do not seem to get attacked by very many monsters or other enemies in my travels which is why I was opting for the training instead. My character is only level 2 and seems to be taking forever to get to the next level and I think this is mainly due to not being able to practise my skills enough.

Any advice from all of you whom are more experienced with this game than I? How can I earn enough cash?

thanks for any help provided

The best way to train your skills is by using them. Only start buying your skills when you have amassed an extensive surplus of gold. Also, acquiring money becomes increasingly simple as you progress through the game.

Having played this game over and over, and yet only beating it once, here are a few good tips (provided you don't mind participating in illegal activities).
SPOILERS AHEAD
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
1. Buy/make telekinis potions or the spell. These will come in handy to obtain those hard to get items that you so desperately seek. Two ingredients with telekinis abilities are Alit Hide and Bonemeal (very easy to find).

2. Sell all items to Creeper in Caldera if you are desperate for money. Sell anything over 1000 gold to creeper. He is located in Ghorak Manor, a big tall building.

3. If you have good speechcraft, head over to the Redoran Vaults in Vivec. Now, one of the people in the Vaults has the key to one vault cell. Taunt him and kill him (he is very easy). Now, you have access to a redoran treasury cell... Begin the looting

4. One great place to get your money up early is the Dren Plantation, east of Pelagiad. You'll need some telekinis potions, but you'll find the rewards very valuable.

5. Always get skooma whenever you can find it. Sell it to Creeper, 500 gold a skooma. Worth it.

You don't really need anything else but good sneakskills. Work on sneaking and lockpicking from the start. Once you can open all locks, the money will come flowing in.

Also, go travel around in the wilderness, search for Daedric ruins. Especially at level 2 they can be quite challenging, so bring healthpotions. There's usually a very good loot inside the shrines.

Oh dude, what class are you playing.

Naturally, fighter classes don't gain many levels unless they are out adventuring in caves or ruins, so don't be surprised if you haven't gained many levels and you are in many cities. If this is the case, go clear out some caves, you'll notice a drastic difference.

Preying on bandits is also a good way to get money.

Thank you so much for the replies.

I have started over (again ugh!) I am doing a custom class that I called Mageblade for lack of a better name lol This is basically a character with magic and stealth skills, but I believe I chose stealth as the main class thingy. I wanted a character who would be good with magic and thieving skills hence the custom class. I mainly want the magic for enchanting, trapping souls and alchemy. I read somewhere that alchemy is good way to make money so I thought I'd give it a try.

Money in Morrowind need not be a problem at all.

1. The simplest way of getting any amount of money is a plugin with a rich trader. (We need a rich trader because we will sell him an expensive item.) Get the daedric dagger from Vivec (even a level 1 character is able to do it), bribe the trader to 100 and start selling the dagger to him and buying it back. Every time you sell the dagger, haggle a higher price. Every time you buy it, haggle a lower price. Because you are selling and buying at the same price, you are getting money during every "cycle". Moreover, you are training your Mercantile skill.
The dagger is 10 000 gold. Even with Mercantile 5 and Personality 30, you can haggle 250 gold up when you sell and another 250 gold down when you buy. That's 500 gold during every "cycle". With Mercantile about 30, you will be able to get about 1500 gold during every "cycle". A bit of patience and your pockets are full

2. Without the plugin, the dagger cannot be used for generating money. It is too expensive. You can use Creeper for the same trick (if you buy at the same price as you sell there and if you can haggle with him; let's be frank, I've never used Creeper for generating money). You can sell and buy, for example, the Master Mortar and Pestle, which is available nearby The Master Mortar and Pestle is 2400 gold, which is suitable for Creeper, who has 5000 gold. Well, your gain per "cycle" will be lower than the gain with a rich trader and the dagger. Moreover, Creeper will run out of money soon so that you will have to wait 24 hours, until he regains his 5000 gold. On the other hand, the Creeper method is completely "legitimate" and do not need any plugins.

Radek, the is a mod that gives Creeper roughly 9 million gold (well it maxes out the gold capacity anyway)

Also I'm gonna guess you don't know about the mud crab merchant. I think he carries about 50k. Creeper and mudcrab do not have disposition levels and they always give you a straight value. If a dagger is worth 5000, they will start the haggling at 5000. You can usually bump them up by a few hundred with a decent mercantile skill though.

mudcrab got 10k gold.

anyway, why not use console command to create more gold for yourself instead of using some mods? It's much faster that way.

1. I know about the mudcrab but it is far away. Creeper is much better reachable. That's why I have recommended Creeper and not the mudcrab. If there is a mod that gives Creeper enough money then, well, you have a rich trader needed for the daedric dagger
2. The console. You need not play the game if you want to win it by means of the console. You have already won.
