Help with a thieves guild quest please

I am supposed to get dwemer artifacts from Razid (kajiit) in Hla Oad. How do I do this? I've asked about the artifacts but the kitty says he doesn't know anything about it. If I mess around with the chest he attacks..so how do you do this quest without having to kill him?

Taunt him and kill him. then get the key from his body. use the key to open the chest.

OR

if you have high sneak and security, sneak so that he can't see you, then pick the chest lock.

Or get the artifacts somewhere else. You don't need the specific artifacts, you just need ordinary ones (of the right kin, sugar-lips names them when you get the quest).

Yeah, I just bought some back that I'd sold to the enchantress right there in Balmora. Works fine.

Or you could just pick the lock, grab the artifacts and run outside ignoring his attack. If a guard comes after you, just drop the artifacts on the ground and pay the fine. Pick them up again and you are clear.

Well I opted to taunt the guy until he got mad enough to attack me but when I took the items out of said chest the mage attacked me, well, rather than kill him I just ran outside. I was not accosted by the guards but I did end up with a 170 gold price on my head lol which was easy enough to get rid of.

It does not seem to be easy to taunt people into attacking you in this game lol Guess I'd better not join the morag tong as that would require me to do nothing but kill people lol

I am now suppose to acquire the release of a fellow thief which is going to require me stealing a dweomer artifact out of a merchants chest lol last time I did this quest the guard caught me lol That bloody guard seems to never leave the vicinity of the chest! Is there a way to get said artifact without the guard catching you?

Wait for the guard to walk downstairs. make sure you hide yourself from his view or else he won't go down.
