Weapon locations

Does anyone know of a good site that details the locations of some of the better weapons in the game? I've played it all the way through a couple of times now, and never saw the light sword, excalibur, diamond eyes, etc.. Fang and the Staff of Doom were the best weapons I found. Throw a couple of spoilers my way.

Actually, some weapons don't have specific locations. I'm not totally sure but the "light sword" pops up randomly in chests. Usually around the Umpani areas. I think it is the same for "excalibur". Most of the great weapons pop up randomly. However, if I'm not mistaken, the "fang" is located somewhere. I'm not to sure about that though.

What I am sure about is that someone on this site has the answer. They will post it shortly.

if I remember correctly, the lightsword is a drop ( I never found it myself )
from the buccaneer ghosts or it can be found randomly in a chest on Bayjin.
I always found the diamond eyes in the lair in den middle of the mountain wilderness.
Excalibur , I believe, can be found near Nessie in David's Locker. But I
believe it's also random.
The best polearm I found was Raven's Bill (cursed, in David's Locker)
I also found a crossbow ( Siege Arbelest ) but I forget the location.

Light sword is an extremely rare random drop from the buccaneer ghost, and a very rare fiond in a hut in Bayjin. I just found it for the first time regulary (without long reloading for it), in maybe my 30th party. And its a spellcaster-only party, so i can't use it.

Excalibur is not that rare, in the chest behind Nessie. I think i got it about every 10th game.

Diamond eyes are fix. It is in the mountain wildernesse, protected by some undead. But you have to search or use detect secrest to see it (or have a ranger)

Thanks for the prompt answers. I guess I never completely explored the mtn wilderness -- guess I got hooked on the teleporters.

Another side question ... What is the randomizer trigger for chests? Say for example the Locker by Nessie. What exactly do you have to do to have it load with different items? Do you save and reload in front of the chest, or save and reload outside the zone and then run to the chest to check (or better yet set a beacon)? Or are the items locked in when you start the game?

by the way, the seige arblast can be bought from ferro.

another good place to search for awesome items is the chest in the rapax castle. if you dont get the excailibur from davy jone's locker, you are likely to find it there. HAPPY HUNTING!

mkhunter - all chests are fixed when you enter a new quadrant. You always get the same stuff if you reload in front of a chest. Fang is in the Sorceress Temple in the SE Wilds, with good armor. There is a good cursed staff in Mountain Wilds cave. The dumgon there also has a great magic amulet and some moderately good weapons (mystic staff and strong bow?) which I forget. Some other good weapons are in Rapax Castle but most are drops. The Trynnie Shaman has a 2nd Diamond Eyes mace, I have heard. But you have to fight him for it.

while there are a number of websites with a detailed inventory of items (mindflay and flamestryke are two of the best, imo), but only one had the items listed with their find locations - not always accurate, but a nice bit of information. it was jack bullion's home page but has since disappeared.

flamstryke's page also has a list of chest contents, so you may be able to have a poke around to find some useful info - it's just not sorted by item.

fang - best fixed-find sword in the game (10% critical) southeast wilderness in the evil temple
boomerang shuriken - nice for those throwers you just cant keep equipped, same temple as fang

diamond eyes - nice mace, notable for being usable as an off-hand weapon, for which it is amongst the best in the game. found in the bunker in the middle of the mountain wilderness. also dropped by the shaman in trynton, should you choose to off him.

excalibur - best two-handed sword in the game. found in two places: nessie's chest in the bayjin shallows and the queen's chest in the rapax castle.

muramassa blade - best one-handed sword in the game (15% critical), but usable only by samurai. only found in the queen's chest in the rapax castle.

cane of corpus - over-blown one-handed staff (15% critical) for faerie ninja. the don drops it about 2/3 of the time when you kill him.

staff of doom - best two-handed staff in the game (15% critical). found under the waterfall in the mountain wilderness.

enchanted wakizashi - only off-hand sword in the game, only usable by samurai and ninja. apparently there are six ways to get it, but the most common are the fixed location under the waterfall (as above) and dropped by antone or ferro should you choose to off them (or pickpocket them).

sprite's dagger / rod of sprites - great faerie weapons, particular the rod which is an excellent complement to the cane of corpus as an off-hand staff. random drop by faeries. i've only gotten the rod on ascension peak but i've gotten the dagger as early as lower trynton.

sword of 4 winds - great cursed two-handed sword, casts asphyxiate. only found in one of the lockers (the one with all the locks) in the umpani headquarters, just outside the general's office.

ivory blade - an excellent one-handed sword that you can always get, but you have to deliver 3 quest items to ferro to get it.

siege arbalest/strong bow - the best cross-bow and bow in the game (imo), usable by everyone with lots of hit and critical bonuses. both may be bought at ferro, although you can get strong bow dropped by rattkin (and elsewhere) and the siege arbalest is available in drops at marten's chest, from wood elders, and the queen's chest (i think).

dread spear - best always-available polearm in the game. bought from bela (in the mountain wilderness).

that's all i can think of at the moment. can anyone supply correction or add to the list?

The Mauler - buyable from Ferro. Particulary nice in combination with Diamond Eyes, since it raises mace&flail skill

Well, I guess there are 2 locations, 'cos I find it in the chest of the room where you use the pressure plate in Mt. Gigas. I just save before going up the elevator. I think I posted this last week but may not have?
