My bard loves her five-fingered discount and exercises it at every opportunity. Some of the goodies have been quite sweet, such as :

Sword of Hearts - from the Umpani bartender
Shaman Das - from Diamond Eyes
Canned Elemental - from Myles

And some have strained belief ... "Bardy has stolen a Chain Hauberk!"

OK, just HOW does one successfully grab, much less hide, a Chain Hauberk? That's sort of very large, very heavy, and very cumbersome. I'd think the merchant would sort of catch on if you were trying to sauvely stuff that into your pocket, right?

Success of shoplifting appears to also depend upon the value of the item being stolen. I experimented, via reloads, and found that although He'Li never seemed to catch on to me nabbing bundles of 100 arrows (8 gp or so), she kept a sharp eye on her stash of renewal potions (5,000 gp) and caught me every time. It didn't seem to be related to the bulkiness, weight or size of an item, that's for sure.

Ah well. Goof-off time over, back to the Network Security class project ...

You think lifting a chain hauberk is bizarre, in Wizards & Warriors you can pickpocket the fur hide off an attacking sabretooth tiger!
