This place is worse than the Stout Mines in W&W.

I've got a quest to get rid of some rats that are in the sixth bough. I believe I have found the way to the 6th bough BUT there is a broken bridge in the way and you get the message - you're not going anywhere unless you repair it yourself.
Well, that might be fine and good if I had a gadgeteer but I don't and I really believe that the game cannot rely upon you having one so there must be another solution. Anyone have any hints??

The Tryntites are less than conversational wizards. Told to find one character to ask him about the 7th bough so when I ask where this character is I get the answer "In Trynton, of course!" well - DUH!

Also this area severely bogged down on me yesterday while playing to the point that I was about ready to toss out the game. There are always patrols roaming around and I got them and some monsters and the game was in major slow motion. Even if I was actually in sight of these guys the game was bogged - took me 15 minutes to pick up some arrows and actually get them into the party inventory. Way bad. I reset some of my video options this morning - getting rid of some of the extras and the game hasn't jammed up like that so far.

But I don't like this place.

Grab two of the vines that you can find, and merge them together. Then use that on the bridge. You don't need a gadgeeter to make it work.

Dear Wyvern,

Boy, I'm glad it's not just me! In Arnika, the game was running MAJORLY slow on me, and I thought it was my HD, so I defragged it.

It's really bad if you have to reload a game...best thing to do is exit the game entirely and then restart. Otherwise, it does something to the RAM...I think the old game remains active in RAM or something...sheesh!

I also upped my swap file size to 500 MB so I'd have enough active paging space, so I'll see if that has any measurable difference.

Cheers,

Thanks!!

Figured out the thing about the vines - but it tells me now isn't the time -

Need to visit Marten's Bluff - which I think is in the swamp? There is a pole and rope hanging off the cliffs near Trynton but I can't do anything with them at all.

Game never bogged down for me in Arnika so I was very surprised when this happened in Trynton. I totally exited the game and still had the same problems. Today it has been running alright so I'm keeping my wings crossed.

Now have a cursed weapon that I'm going to want to get removed but I'm not inclined to take a trip back to Arnika at the moment.

Really wanted to be painting Border Collie xmas plaques today (this whole week) but the work guys totally let me down and haven't gotten them made up. Will make next week even more busy than this.

Go past the intersection to the fourth and fifth boughs and up to the abode at the end of that trail. There is a ramp inside that will lead you to the guy to talk to in order to get "job" that should enable you fix the bridge...I talked to him before trekking up that far with the two pieces of combined vines in my inventory and there was no hesitation to the process of being able to get across.

Lakisbrine;

The vines are kind of around a shrine-like thing in one of the buildings in the lower boughs in the tree (in trynton). Sorry don't know any of the specifics right now. (Can't remember from the first time through and not yet there on the second).

The building containing the vines is the one with several faeries in it right next to Fuzzfas's shop, as I recall.

Spot on. Just walk up to the vines and you will see the hand cursor. Get 2 of them then merge them together (any character can do this).

Hint: While near there, don't forget your experience

Talk to Madras on the 5th bough to get across the bridge to Rattkin city.

Enjoy.

Drag mouse for spoilers:

The building is beside the fountain where you can obtain the bonus INT and the free spell book. Kill the fairies inside the building and click on the vines twice to grab TWO vines.
