Githyanki Problem

I stole Derishak's ship to leave Brynnlaw and got the silver blade from Saemon. We then encountered the Githyanki ship and a tremendous battle ensued.

In the end, only Saemon, my party, and the Githyanki Captain were left standing, but no matter WHAT I did...there was NO WAY to kill the Captain. I literally let the game run for 45 minutes with all 6 party members beating on this guy. I would deal out a tremendous amount of damage only to have the Githyanki Captain "Dispel Effects".

I even tried the "Control Y" cheat, but nothing would end the battle and our ship never sank. The game seem to be caught in some type of buggy loop.

Eventually, I just did a "MoveToArea" to transport my party back to the Docks District and skipped the Underwater City.

Does anybody have a clue what went wrong and how to fix it. I Saved a copy of the game before leaving Brynnlaw, so I could re-do the whole thing, but I don't want to get trapped in another endless loop.

You're not supposed to kill the Gith captain at all. This is one of those instances where something, that is supposed to happen to interrupt a battle, just doesn't happen. To fix things like this, it's usually enough to reload and do the battle again. It happens quite often, and there isn't a 'real' fix for the bug, that prevents it from happening.

You can also talk to Saemon Havarian while the giths attack you and saemon says the same stuff and gives you the silver blade again though the game goes on without a bug.

Wouldn't that mean skipping the whole underdark? Isn't that a plot-stopper?

NO...it just meant skipping the Sauhagin Underwater City and apparantly is not "plot-stopper". I specifically went to the Docks District to see if the Githyanki would show up to "reclaim" the Silver Blade.....they did (and gave me a pretty thorough butt-kicking in the process).

So, I have 2 versions of the game Saved - 1 Saved before leaving Brynnlaw and meeting the Githyanki ship and 1 Saved after "MovingTo" the Docks District.

Since it was obviously a bug in the game...I will probably try the Brynnlaw version again. I didn't really think it was possible to kill the Githyanki Captain, but whatever was supposed to trigger the ship sinking never happened.
