Three months after Oblivion was released and this particular forum seems to be lifeless again. Are we all busy watching the world cup? Or has Oblivion failed to do it for you?

I think i know what you mean, Stratos. The three characters i've played so far have really been test pilots. If Morrowind is anything to go by, i'll be having frequent Oblivion binges for another 2 years or so and it is then that i'll really get into it. But at the moment, i really can't be stuffed.

After playing it for a month I realised that besides the pretty graphix it basicly stinks... it's not finished and seeing as some of the content that is missing is being sold as mods I can't help but feel very much ripped off. just Hope NWN2 will be fairly decent and not the stinker you guys make it out to be...else I will have to find a new favourite Game genre... I still play it. Though, it just seemed to rush you much too much.
So I deleted every one of my saves. And put limits on my next game. 1. Listen to *all* Dialouge 2. Do *not* fast travel 3. Sleep every so often (seriously. 3 weeks iwth no sleep? OMG ) 4. Lastly, take my time. So far, It's quite interesting, and alot more immersive than I had expected. |

I've stalled a bit with my game; I dunno if it's just my sucky character or the game balance, but I'm finding that there are just no easy monsters and nearly everything I come up against I almost die and have to use the irritating and slow tactics of running away and healing constantly. I think it's a good move to have difficult battles so you don't get the stage like in Morrowind (very early too) where battles were boring and too easy. But I am finding it a bit frustrating as well, so I'm just leaving it for a while.
Have other people found that or is it partly my character? She wears light armour (mostly mithril at this point, I think she is about level 18) which I think is contributing to how much damage she takes. Anyway one reason I think that the forum is so quiet is that the quests are pretty easy. Usually, and like was the case with Morrowind, there are plenty of threads with people asking how to complete a certain quest or where to find such and such. With the arrow pointer and journal updates, quests are almost trivially easy so there's not much to talk about.

It's a side effect of the enemies levelling with your character. If your character doesnt increase combat skills while levelling up you will actually end up weaker compared to the enemies than you were at lower levels. I guess they found that Morrowind levelled monsters (cliff racers being replaced by netches) were levelling up too slowly.
Its the biggest complaint against the game, and it makes thieves and other low damaging chars pretty unplayable at later levels. Not to mention that any quest with allies (who dont get better equipment due to levelling up) will be a tad different at higher levels. There are mods to fix the problem. I used Oscuros Oblivion overhaul while I was playing, but the game was still boring as the biggest flaw is the lack of quests and guilds. You play it through once, do all quests, and thats it... I want to be able to specialize my char and still get a full game's worth of playing in an RPG. Oh well, NWN2, Gothic 3, and Realms of Arkania 4 will be around within a year or two.. |

It failed for me I think. Stunning graphics, poor gameplay and not *near* as immersive as I hoped. I didn't even complete the MQ. It almost seems dumbed down and overly simplified compared to Morrowind.
