Well, Oblivion was working really awesome, I got through the tutorial, looks sharp, love the combat. Anyways, I quit because I have to go make supper. When I load it up again, my character is trying to walk backwards. Always. Regardless of what I do. The other keys work, and I can fight, but it's unbelievably annoying to be constantly walking backwards. I think it's something either within my config or with my system, since I tried switching keyboards and the problem persists. I thought it was that godawful "StickeyKeys", but that's not enabled. Please guys, I've been fighting with it for about 4 hours.

Man, that bites. At this early stage, your best bet would be to try at the official forums.

Yeah sounds like a 'toggle' key.

Well, that's what I initially thought, but when I press AutoMove (Q key), it still does it when I turn it off. When it's on, I walk constantly forward, as I'm supposed to, but as soon as it's off, I keep walking backwards. I have pressed (literally) every single key on the keyboard, and that's not what it seems to be, although I suppose it could be a combination.

What happen if you try to move foward? Does it make you advance, or just stop you, the two commands canceling each others?
One thing you could try is unbind the walk backward key and see what it does, or at least bind it somewhere else.

When I press the forward key, the character moves forward too. As soon as I stop pressing the "W" key, it reverts to walking backwards.
I just tried it elsewhere, and it doesn't seem to fix the problem. |

Hmm.. I have had something like this occur in more than one game. I sometimes think it starts when you save (or quicksave) when pressing one of the movement buttons. The game then saves you walking backwards, even if you don't press the key. Might that be it?
Hmm.. this might be your "StickeyKeys". If so, I haven't got a clue.

Unfortunately, it's also present in new games. I just tried a full reinstall (I didn't get very far in the game,) and the same problem pops up. So I'm thinking it must be linked to my computer itself. However, since I can't play Oblivion, I've been playing BG2 and have been having no problems.

Try pressing two keys at once. Computer make a beep? Then it's registering you hitting three keys at once, a feat many keyboards (PS/2 interface ones, anyway) aren't capable of. Thus, the computer says "what the heck is going on" and then beeps out an error.
Failing that, I'd still say you'd do well to pry off that "S" key and see what lies below. I figure it's a hardware issue.
