okay....

i *think* there's something wrong with my planescape: torment game, but since i don't know 2E rules and the manual says nothing about them, i need someone who does know to explain this to me.

Nameless (naked: no conditions, no rings, bracelets, etc.)
(Cursed Gauntlets)
Fighter Level 5
To Hit: +2
Damage: +2
Proficiency: Fists ++

Nameless (naked, see above)
(Cursed Gauntlets)
Fighter Level 6
TO Hit: 0
Damage: +2
Proficiency: Fists ++

Nameless (naked, see above)
(Removed Cursed Gauntlets)
(Using Fists, bare knuckled)
Fighter Level 7
To Hit: -5
Damage: +3
Proficiency: Fists ++++

what the heck is going on?
~ why does his "to hit" stat go into the toilet at level 7, when he has double the proficiency compared to earlier levels?
~ why the fluctuation between Level 5 and 6, when nothing changed?

the game is patched 1.1 and i've done a coupla tweaks, but only in the ini file for increasing cache size and path nodes.

help me understand this. is it the 2E rules? or did i do the wrong thing using a cursed item?

oh, one note, i did swap from fighter to mage occasionally during these levels, trying out spells and the cursed gauntlets were equipped during the swaps.

will i have to start over?

thanks for helping me.

THAC0 is better lower, the fluctiation between level 5 and 6 is probably the benefit of leveling, in level 7 you removed cursed gauntlets which must have had +1, and gained -2 for fists and level-up. Probably.

thanks a lot, bozos
so lower is better for your weapon?
and damage is better when it gets higher?
*whew* that's good news!

the +2 increase in fists was due solely to training with the teacher Korur. when you train with him at level 7, you get 4 star mastery in your favored weapon. i'm sorry i wasn't more explicit about that in my post.

thanks so much for the help
