PLEASE, go do yourself a favor and go check out the fantastically made Disgaea, for the PS2. It's one of the funnest and funniest games I've ever had the joy of playing.
It's a strategy RPG, in the same veins as Final Fantasy Tactics or Shining Force, or even PnP D&D. Battles run really smoothly, and unlike a lot of other RPGs, you do stay interested in the fights, because you have to actually think. There are combo attacks you can dish out on enemies, and the special abilities in the game are just down-right cool. Story wise, it's a riot. As the son of the late Overlord of the Netherworld, you embark out with your bizarre team of prinnies (little penguin things that say, "Dood!" all the time), demons, and even an angel (Flonne!! SHE'S SO ADORABLE!) They take cracks at all sorts of things. They even have a part where some wanna-be power rangers attack you. The cutscene made me laugh so hard, I woke my parents up and they are on the other side of my house, through 5 walls and 3 doors. BTW, graphics whores won't like it. It's sprite based. I personally love well-drawn sprites and it ticks me off to no end that people refuse to play any game that isn't better looking than the last, but I figured I'd just give a warning out.

Beoulve, I'd love to take your advice, but my funds are currently tied (by my own choice; I can become a disgusting spend-aholic if I'm not careful). My next big spend is going to be the next StarOcean, if DisGaea comes down to a manageable price by then I'll take it into consideration. Or else I'll probably go broke within the week.

If anyone wants to see the 50 mb trailer, it is up for download at www.atlus.com. There is a weird, weird song that playes during it, but it's still a pretty awesome trailer, IMO.

I just realised it's an Atlus game.
That means 2 things. First off, it is terrific. Second, it will be massively, massivley UNDER produced, and UNDER advertised. IF YOU FIND A COPY, SNATCH IT UP QUICK. It's already a collector's item.

I was over at the codebreaker site checking out the new codes when I saw this game listed and remembering this post I popped in to check out the types of codes they had for it. I got 1 question..How frickin long is this game?...lol I saw they had codes for 27 different characters and that you could apparantly lvl up to lvl 9999. I gotta tell ya if this game is as long as it sounds then I think I'm in love...lol. Thanks for the heads up , I'm gonna surely give this one a shot.

You can replay the game with a file that has already beaten it. One of the options you can choose at the Dark Assembly is stronger monsters. Yes, you really can get to level 9999. You beat it your first time through at roughly 50, with 40 hours or so of gameplay. :grins: Item Worlds also provide a lot of replayability. Randomly created dungeons, especially in the type of game that Disgaea is, creates for a lot of fun. The geopanel puzzles are fun to try and figure out, too.
