I am going down a road in the swamp, and Myles keeps wanting to leave the party. In the book it says that this will happen and that you can continue to save the game and reload to get another person to leave. This has not worked.

I do not know if I am to the part where a party member leaves or not. After trying to rerecruit him, Myles states that he has a new job of looking for a secret tunnel in Arnika that leads from the Prison to the Bank. We accepted his invitation to join his quest and left the swamp. My party is now in the prison looking for the tunnel with no success.

The first time I played this game I did not go directly to the ship to rescue Vi and Myles got mad. No other NPC's would deal with me in Arnika. I do not want to repeat this disaster by not following Myles wishes and returning to the swamp to continue my quest.

How do I find this tunnel? Is the section of the swamp where a party memeber leaves on the road? If so, is my party wasting time fooling with this quest? Should we return to the swamp and press on??

Thanks

Each RPC has places where he won't go voluntary. Miles is very restricted, and won't go to many places.

You can force him in with several tricks. But he will be in a bad condition (hexxed) and quite useless. Better let him go.

If you want to force him in:
Either let him carry lots of heavy stuff, and run around until he is ko., then enter.
Or enter without him, set a portal, go back and hire him, and portal back in.

I often regret to do this (and rescue Vi later alone), and it has no bad effect.
Maybe you accidently attacked someone in Arnika?

Middle prison cell, take a look at the floor.

It is at the spot where you enter another area (in your case, probably Martens Bluff, or Mine Tunnels)

Thanks so much for the info. it looks like I will spend a good deal of time being frustrated by NPC's not wanting to go with.

The Savant robot NPC is the best one to take, if you're going to take any. He only refuses the Rapax Away camp, and that's to ensure you have room for both the T'Rang and Umpani guys. With careful development, he turns into quite a fighter, being a non-Psionic monk.

However, it is quite possible to do the game without any NPC's at all, except for those needed to complete a quest. For instance, I rescue Vi, take her into the group, and drop her off at the tavern. Others I just never invite in the first place. You can do the same.
