I love rpg's...especially all-star titles such as Baldur's gate, torment, fallout 1&2...etc. Never played any first person rpg's besides morrowind..morrowind was ok but I found it medicore. First question: how is the combat in wizardy 8? I never played any of them, I know combat is in first perspective but can you see any of your party members actully swinging a sword or running across the screen? LOL and second question, whats up with the funky races? Fairies!? LOL faires!? When I buy this game Im going to make sure faireis are not in my party.

hmmm... judging from your message i'd guess you are fairly young (fprpgs have been the rage from BardsTale in the 80's to about 93/94)...

Best way to describe Wiz 8 is to compare it to some older games such as Eye of the Beholder, or Dungeon Master, or M&M.

But to answer your specific questions - no you never see your party members outside of the portraits. Combat is turn based, not RT like most newer RPGs. You basically pick what you want each member to do, and who to do it to, and then click "go" The computer then handles the combat for that round.

Why all the races? Replay value. this is one of the few games where race actually makes a significant difference, and there are lots of items only certain races / classes can use.

This is a great game, so I'd say lay down the twenty and pick it up.

Yeah, but one of the most fun parts of the game was the personalities you gave your characters...AND the ability to change them at any time if they started getting on your nerves.
