Hello!
This is a thread for all you posters (and some of you lurkers ) to come into and introduce yourselves, tell us all a little about yourself, if you care to, and generally get to know each other while sharing in the fun of Wizardry 8.

This a great board, an excellent forum and an all-around great place so jump in and tell us a little about yourself...where you come from, what you do, your hobbies, how old you are...anything you like or as little as you wish! Just say Hi! Show off your sig since we turn them off in most game-related threads!

We started this thread when Wizardry 8 was finally released in the US Look Here If You Don't Believe Me lol and it was such a hit, I (for one) would like to see it continue. Its a great way to meet your fellow Ironworks members!

I'm from the UK - a little island off the coast of Europe now run by President Blair. Been playing RPGs since Colossal Cave on an IBM mainframe in 1975, so I am a bit of an old fart at 48 years old. My 3 favorites RPGs of all time are Collosal Cave for being the first and the incredible impact of playing something like a game on a computer, Ultima Underworld 1 again for the imapct and for its immersive atmosphere, and Wizardry 7 for its great story, longevity of appeal and fantastic gameplay.

I am from the NYC area here in the States. The first roleplaying game I remember (and also was one of the best!) was called "Tunnels of Doom" and came on a cartridge for the old Texas Instruments TI 99/4a. You would save games to a cassette tape and it could take 20 minutes+ to load/save I played the original Wizardry on an Apple IIc and have loved these games ever since. 8 to me is the best one they've produced yet and I hope they do keep the series alive.

Hello Mr Creosote and Gimli! Thanks for responding!

I agree with your opinion of Wizardry 7, Mr Creosote. It was one of the funnest games I've ever played and if I remember correctly, the only one I've ever played twice. The second game started as soon as the first one was finished.
I had it on the "Wizardry Gold" CD but let my son do something with it (?) and I have it now on the Wizardry Ultimate Archives CD but it is at a friend's house and I forgot to pick it up the last time I was there. (it is a 4 hour drive to their house or I would have gone right back when I remembered lol)

Gimli, I understand from Psycho's thread with the good news link to Sirtech Canada's restructering story that there is hope for the continuation of the series. I've got my fingers crossed!

Zdravo,

I'm from Slovenia. It's a *tiny* country in Europe - bordering to Austria & Italy (use of magnifying glass required to find it on a map). 34 "biological" years of age. Other ages are : 15 - behaviour, 75 - benevolent evil, 150 - sarcasm, 215 - cynism (according to my ooops-was-that-your-save-game-slot son & two i-have-to-check-my-mail-twice-per-hour stepdaughters). Pets - just fishes Couldn't stand anythin more exciting after some 8-10 hours of work AND AFTER close encounters with two teens back home Other (than RPG) hobbies : books (Barker, Prattchett, Wolfe) & weight-lifting.
My first RPG games were Curse of the Azure Bonds and Bard's Tale on my third "personal computer" - Commodore 64 (ZX 81 and ZX Spectrum hold places No. 1 and 2).
Plunged into Wizardry world with Bane of the Cosmic Forge on Amiga 512. I recall it had some kind of strange bug... after a couple of hours or so into the game the only kind of monster encounters i got were Rats Quite funny now, verrrrry annoying way back then. Continued with Crusaders of Dark Savant.
And the reason for me having enough time to write all this is... I ascended last night. YES ! & looking forward to creating a new party tonight (just a couple this time - marital status not decided yet)

I'm from Montreal, Quebec and The Montreal Grand Prix was great (Even if Montoya didn't win) But the girls, whooaaa, a lot of babes.

My favorites games is RPG and my first one was Dungeons & Dragons on Intellivision. After that, Dungeon Master and Sundog on Atari 520 ST. More great console game like Dragon Warrior I to IV (Nintendo), Phantasy Star I to IV (Sega and Genisis), Final Fantasy II and III (Super Nintendo) only (VII and up sucks).
