I was afraid that my computer would not be able to handle the game, and I was more than correct. Firstly the main intro screen had a blank white background, which I am certain is not supposed to be like that. Secondly, as I was "attempting" to walk around it took me precisely 6 minutes to walk into a lake drown and wait for the restart option.

I have a:

500 mhz AMD
256 RAM
Sound card works perfectly
Here's the pathetic "Why did you even bother with the game?" video card......a GRAND 16 meg Viper video card. Sad isn't it. My real question of course is how much would a descent video card go for, and is me ole processor of 500 more than capable?

well hon, the white screen is because your vid card won't run the game. minimum spec is a 32mb Video Card. and with that processor you're on the low end of the scale. a better processor will push those polygons and pixels a helluva lot faster. even 1Ghz processors report slowdowns.

Check these price comparisons! there's GeF3, ATIs anywhere from $100 to $300 and they are all good cards. so if that's your price range, you may want to consider it.

wish i could tell you otherwise, luv!

you can get a decent (albeit not the greatest) video card for about $50. here is an Nvidia Geforce 2 Ti 64mb card for $50 plus shipping (assuming your in the US)
http://www.sybercom.com/cgi-bin/sybe..._pc=PriceWatch
i'm running on a card that is about equal to this.

at the same place you can get a geforce 3 Ti 200 64mb for $85
http://www.sybercom.com/cgi-bin/sybe..._pc=PriceWatch

hope thats helpful
[edit]- Btw those are vision tek cards, and thats a good company. they make good reliable cards. Name brand if you know what i mean.

Depends on the money you can spend and your available bus. If you don't have a 4X/2X AGP slot that can take a 3/4 length card, you'll be out of the GeForce4 range. I upgraded to a GeForce4 Ti 4600. I pushes more pixels than Clinton's got "girlfriends."

With the old GeForce2, as long as I had the video "dumbed" down I could play... But the difference is A LOT, and it's more than just the speed. It's the capablilities of the processor.

If your AGP slot isn't up to snuff, you'll either have to gut and replace most of your computer's insides or go PCI bus. Considering your MB & processor, I'd just gut the bugger if you have the money to sink a couple of grand into a "game god" 'puter.

What's your budget? And if'n I had to be a guessing, I'd be guessing you'r'n the GeForce3 budget range.

Oh, here's a good website for component prices. All brand new stuff, unless you're looking for old/refurb stuff and you can get that too...
