i discovered the sweetest House plug in, designed by The Ampersand from the TTLG forums.

he has gone to the trouble of making a sweet little house in Balmora, to the left of the Silt Strider when you arrive. it's right at the gates to the town, up above street level on the hill.

its so wonderful and it can be yours too! there's a bed, a table, 2 bookcases for laying out all your cool stuff on to look at, and a lovely chest. he's lit it very tastefully. all in all, for something available to any player immediately, its just wonderful.

i love clicking the door and seeing "Your House" as i click the door!
i guess i'm just a sentimental vampire at heart!

obtw, if you click the link above, it will download directly from his site. if you don't trust me or him (please run a virus scan first, in either case!) then, here's the thread from TTLG where he announces it.

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthrea...threadid=48840

i just HAD to crow about it and thank him publicly. Thanks, the Ampersand! you did a brilliant job on it. simplicity is wonderful!

I shall love this plug-in, no doubt. Once I can get out of the ship's hold.

Not to worry, though. I bought a brand-new case (brushed aluminum with side window), a GeForce 4 TI 4600, a Hercules Game Theater XP and will be buying a new P-4 or AMD motherboard ($200-$600), plus memory...

So far, $800 to play a $50 game.

No sad songs. Computers have to be upgraded, and the time is the time, one just never knows WHEN that time will be...

::vesselle bats her eyelashes at DR::

gosh, gaming guys are just so attractive when they talk about their systems!

i know quite a few folks who upgraded pretty extensively for this game. but wow! a geF4? so THATS what you've been doing for the last 24 hours!?

i was actually hoping you were deeply involved in MW, making the perfect character. i feel bad now, knowing you were stuck in the hold of that stinky slave ship.

well, i'll be a good game-gurl and not spoil you a bit. it's just that you have a LOT of catching up to do, even to reach someone like me who goes super slow, exploring everything.

PS: i just had the funniest thot. what if there were a "party" mode for the inside of the Balmora House? and everyone who had it could flip the switch and see everyone else who lived there? we could all do it on a Sat Nite and have a party!

I want a house! But I can not play yet My computer is dedicated to being a server for my MCSE classes. Did he post if there is any way to use the mod for the X-Box version when it comes out next week?

Hello Vesselle

Got really hostile yesterday late afternoon and called the 800 number for UPS. Fella said it was delivered to my front porch. I nicely said BS as I had been waiting for the pagage since 11 a.m. Pacific time.

After a bit of discussion he did something and called me back to say it was delivered to the WRONG address.

At 6 p.m. my neighbor a couple of doors away came by with the package and said they had been gone all day and just found the package on thier porch.

WHOOPIE!! Loaded Morrowind and all is well, except, when walking outside of town every once in a while the game stops to load new data. Pause is only for 2-3 seconds. Have latest NVIDA drivers for my GF3 and have NOT messed with any of the possible options as yet.

One other thing, I 'THOUGHT' I would like Morrowind in a Window on the desktop as the alt/tab thing did not work. Figured I could get to my desktop that way. WRONGO!! Well now I can not figure out how to get gack to a Full Screen. Any Ideas??

Will send an e-mail to you as well.

OMG! wotta story! that's a fitting conclusion to the drama of waiting for your game!

anyways, have you checked your properties yet?
r/click your desktop shortcut
click "properties"
in the box that opens, look for the "Run" line
it prolly says "minimized"
if so, open the drop down menu and choose "Normal Window"
click Apply, OK

let me know if that works. or not. LOL!

I've run into the same thing, and every once in a while I get the gas gauge with the "Loading Exterior" message when I'm outside. I've thought about tweaking Cacheman, but I haven't done anything yet... Any thoughts, Miss V?

well, as far as that little hitch goes, i get it too. i have the game on (don't laugh) 3 systems. an alienware with a geF3ti500 64mb, my homebuilt with ATI Radeon 7500 32mb, and my lapper with an ATI mobility 32mb.

even with each card having the latest DX 8.1, the two ATI's hitch up on me. (the alienware is smooth as silk)

the waits while "exterior is loading" i don't think can be changed. except by having a vid card that has a hefty amount of RAM on it. like a gef3 or gef4. 64mb is good, 128mb is creamy mouthwatering goodness!

so, i have done what any sensible girl does when she doesnt really know what the heck to do!

....make sure that i clear my SysTray of EVERYTHING.
that means hitting CTRL/ALT/DEL quickly, once and then anything that shows up in the box gets "closed" except for EXPLORER and SYSTRAY. (esp making sure my AntiVirus program is closed, and WinDoctor is really bad too. Any program that periodically sends out checks online for updates etc (like MS Updater, too!)is a MUST for closing down during playtime.)

....set my viewing distance to midway or less

....i just discovered that it pays to turn my AI distance down, also. its about 1/4 of the way now.

....the last thing is something i learned from the modders at TTLG.

it involves modifying your "morrowind.ini" file.
first off, make a copy and save it a safe place, just in case.
then, scrolldown till you see this:

[LightAttenuation]
UseConstant=0
ConstantValue=0.0
;
UseLinear=1
LinearMethod=1
LinearValue=3.0
LinearRadiusMult=1.0
;
UseQuadratic=0
QuadraticMethod=2
QuadraticValue=16.0
QuadraticRadiusMult=1.0
;
OutQuadInLin=0

swap it so that it reads like this:

[LightAttenuation]
UseConstant=0
ConstantValue=0.0
;
UseLinear=0
LinearMethod=1
LinearValue=3.0
LinearRadiusMult=1.0
;
UseQuadratic=1
QuadraticMethod=2
QuadraticValue=16.0
QuadraticRadiusMult=1.0
;
OutQuadInLin=0

what it does, supposedly, according to people who know these things , is change the way lighting is handled. i haven't noticed any difference in the way things look, but it seems to be acting much smoother for me.

so that's all i have, honeys! i'm just afeared that some of the hitching is gonna happen.

Good lord, but you are a wealth of wisdom! I will definitely try that tonight, and see what I get. I have an odd setup insofar as i have a spanky-new GF 4600ti, but it's on a PIII700 mainboard. I guess that my hitching and slowdowns are from the processor, so any tweaks that might streamline number crunching should help. Hope to upgrade to a P4 1.5 or better within a couple of weeks.
