Hello,

I had a couple of questions regarding Baldurs Gate.

1.) I read in a Forgotten Realms manual that it is possible to increase the pathing performance of party members:
"To increase the path searching AI, the following entry can be modified in the baldur.ini file that is installed in the root of installation directory:

[Program Options]
Path Search Nodes=000

This number can vary from 2000 to 32000

I have looked at my baldur.ini but do not see the above line anywhere!
I have pasted my current ini file as an example.
[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\
CD1:=E:\CD1\
CD2:=E:\CD2\
CD3:=E:\CD3\
CD4:=E:\CD4\

Which line do I modify?

2.) I have purchased the TOTSC add on but I'm not sure when to install it?
Should I do it now or wait until I have finished the game?

I am currently at the bandit camp...

Thanks for any help,

Sincerely,

ZAK

Hey Zak88lx,

1. To quote Rudi off of survivor No. 1 "I don't know."

2. Go ahead and install TOTSC. You can go ahead and start playing some areas of TOTSC before you finish BG1 (You'll probably get your butt kicked though!). Also it adds some good features to BG1. Wizards get two weopon slots instead of
one. The game will show items that are magical in nature, in blue. You no longer have to read the item description to find out if you need to identify it or not. There are several other things that it does too, but these are the things I find the most helpful.

Welcome to the board zak88lx.

When you install TOTSC it allows you to increse the path search nodes. I'm not sure if you have to alter the baldur.ini file or change one of the options somewhere. I'd say installing TOTSC now is a good idea as well, it sure as hell won't do any harm.

You can change the Path Search Nodes and AI Updates with the Configuration Utility that comes with the game. That would be found in...
Start Menu > Programs > Black Isle > Baldur's Gate > Baldur's Gate Config
