ooc: Since this is the place at IW where I have spent most of my time, it seems appropriate to share what is some rather good news here rather than on the General Discussion board which I seldom visit. However, in keeping with the in-character nature of this forum, I’ll roleplay the announcement

He has no name of his own, this quiet man so strangely at home in wind and storm. Nameless and landless, a life scattered and dispersed by the relentless movement of the Exiling Wind, he has moved now for some time within these forums so far from the sky. He has no name of his own, but here he has been named in various and diverse ways by those of these boards. Windbringer he has been called. Enemy he has been named by others and friend by some few. Stranger and outsider and walker within storms all of these he has been called. In the language of his people, he is Seh’rul [Cyril in the common tongue of these forums] – the vessel of the curse. Of late, however, he has simply been called missing for he has been absent from those threads which have been a home of sorts to him and the movements of an unexpected storm of struggle and possibility carried him to this high and lonely place, these stony windswept ledges where there has been none but the moving air to accompany him. The struggle he has waged here is finished and, rising on exhausted limbs he gazes out over these strangely silent forums whose rate of posting has decreased so much of late. The skies over the forums have grown calm and still, but with the coming of spring are the swollen clouds of the storms that herald the onset of summer. He smiles. Already a massing of gray clouds begins to brood over the innermost forum where once stood the great tower of the Modding Mage, the one named Larry by those things that whisper in the shadows. Soon there shall sound the thunderclaps which shall awaken those monsters which slumber in the Underneath of the Forums and the great struggle for the fate of IronWorks shall continue. The winds move as well in that distant corner where first he appeared on these boards and soon their gusting movement will carry the tale of a certain tavern upward from the depths of the dormant threads into which it has fallen over these last weeks. Yes the struggle of these last months is finished and the unexpected victory is his. His burned fingers tighten around the handle of the stormreaver and life moves out of his body through the axe to mingle once more with the free and living air of this place. He steps then off of this high bit of jutting stone and into the motion of the wind.

ooc: At any rate, here's the news:

Things moved much more quickly in my academic work than I had anticipated and so after a few weeks of fairly intense writing I was able to bring my dissertation to completion. Yesterday morning, I defended the dissertation and much to my surprise and delight was awarded a Pass with Distinction from my readers. These last five years of graduate studies are now just about complete and the degree will be wrapped up in just a few short steps.

It’s great to be finishing and it’s good to be back here again.

To those involved in LOF and Tavern by the Creek - My apologies for my lengthy absence. I’ll be posting in both threads today and tomorrow.
