Get Ready.

This is my first Role-Playing thread. Bear with me if I'm a little confused as to how this works, but I'll try my best to get this thing rolling.

The object of this RP is to adventure through the land and try to solve the mystery. I'll start this out with my own post. If you want to be in it, PM me your stats and items and I'll add everybody's here in one post. NO UBER CHARACTERS!!! If I think your character is too powerful, I'll tell you, and you can fine-tune him/her so that it meets my standards. Okay? Here goes!

Okay, I've changed this thing a little. You don't PM me your characters, you don't even have to PM me at all! You just post what Arkalian and Tummins do. And what happens to them. Sound cool? Well, it's supposed to be!

The story so far.......

King Dothwintle sat in his throne. The great hall was almost empty, save for him and his guards. A very serious look was on his face; he seemed to be in deep concentration. Suddenly he stood up out of his chair and shouted out, "Bring me the royal magician!" His face was very red, the expression on his face made it clear to everyone that he was furious.

This outburst made everyone jump; for he had not talked for many hours before. He had been just in that deep expression of thought, sitting on his throne all of that morn. One of the serving-boys, a lad named Alexander, was sent up to the tower of the royal magician. As Alexander climbed the seemingly endless stairs, he could hear loud explosions from up in the tower. As he came to the tower door, he hesitated to go in, for the magician was known to have a horrible temper. He creaked the door open a crack, hoping to see what was going on. What Alexander saw made him gasp.

The magician was sitting in a chair, muttering evil-sounding incantations. Waving his large, hairy arms about, a bolt of lightning flashed from nowhere and made a giant crystal explode into shattered pieces. The boy noticed that the crystal was on a giant rune, and surrounding the rune were dozens of lighted braziers. "No, no, that cannot be right," muttered the magician to himself in a gruff, unnatural-sounding voice. "Too dense."

The wizard then set a small statue onto the rune. Saying the same evil words, a shaft of fire came down from the ceiling onto the object. When the smoke cleared, the statue was moving. It was a rat! "Almost," said the old man. "More conduction."

On the wall opposite of the magician, there was a huge, ornate mirror. The man set another statue onto the rune; but this one looked narrower and taller. Saying the magic words, a surge of magical energy flew forth from the magician's hand. Just as the magic was beginning to work, the wizard toppled over a glass jar of magic dust. The magician had very bad allergies; he then sneezed, and the magic went haywire. It reflected off of the mirror, bounced against another glass jar, and finally came towards the door that Alexander was leaning against. KABLAM! The door exploded into tiny splinters of wood, and Alexander fell forward onto the floor, unhurt.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!!" roared the magician.

"I...I was sent to fetch you by the king, mister," the boy answered. "Please, don't hurt me!"

The wizard sighed. "Very well then. I.... I.... will....."

Suddenly, an evil expression came over his face. Just as soon as it had appeared, it disappeared. Then it appeared again. The magician began thrashing about the ground, screaming. "AAAAARRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" he yelled. Out surged a great force of magical energy, pulsing from his body, and the floor beneath them collapsed. Both Alexander and the Wizard fell through the whole length of the tower, and landed in a pie in the kitchens.

"What are you doing here?! Out, out!" cried the cook. She shooed them out the door, and they ended up in the Great Hall. King Dothwintle was sitting there, waiting for them.

"Ah, thank you for bringing him here, lad," he said to Alexander. He then turned to the wizard. "As for you, I need to have a serious talk privately."

The wizard (whose name was Lothar) spoke. "Ahh, so we meet again," he said in an unearthly voice. A sense of power was radiating from his body. "I have no reason to talk. I have only been sent here to kill.... NO!"

The sense of power stopped. "I will not be taken over...." he said to himself, clutching his head.

"Do not resist, fool! That will only make it more painful," replied the unearthly voice. Then the evil expression came over Lothar's face again. "Now, to end this...."

A swarm of sparks encircled the magician's hand. King Dothwintle stood up. "NO!!" he cried out. A gigantic beam of yellow light flew from the magician, who was grinning nastily. Just before the explosion, King Dothwintle used his magic to teleport Alexander away. Then, with an enormous crack, the whole of the castle was consumed and destroyed, Lothar and King Dothwintle destroyed with it.

Chapter One

"Who is it?"

"It must be some thug in disguise. Don't touch it."

Alexander awoke with a start. Many tiny creatures were crowded around him. "Ahhh!" cried a young one. "It's awake! I told you to be quiet!"

The boy stood up and rubbed his head, which had a bruise on it. In fact, his whole body was bruised. "No, no, sit back down," said an elder of the tiny creatures. "You're too weak to walk around."

"What are you?" wondered Alexander out loud. "Am I awake?"

"Of course you are. We're munchlings." replied the young one. "Are you a thug in disguise?"

"No, I'm not," he replied. "Can you take me to a doctor or something? My head really hurts."

The tiny creatures took him to their village. Everything there was small, even the animals! They led him to a curious little house on a small hill overlooking the town. "Here we are," said the young one. "By the way, my name is Tummins."

Alexander was in bed for the next week, healing up. When he was finally completely healed, the boy decided to travel to a human settlement (those Munchling were too much for him). "Ooh, ooh, can I come too?" asked Tummins. "I'm pretty handy with a dagger." Alexander agreed, and they both set off down the road.

Well, it just so happened that when Alexander was teleported to the woods near Munchton, he was up in the air, and had a very nasty fall. His head had been hit so hard that he couldn't remember his name! When he told Tummins that, Tummins decided to just call him Arkalian. "It's after my great-grandfather," he said.

They both traveled until they stumbled upon a druid grove. They were greeted by the many Druids and animals. When they went to meet the High Druid, Tarsius, he agreed to tutor them both as Druids. There, "Arkalian" and Tummins stayed for many a year.

Arkalian loved learning to be a Druid, but Tummins did not. Munchlings were afraid of the big animals. He would sneak away from the training sessions, and instead spend his time pickpocketing the unsuspecting Druids in their sleep. If one of them came by him, he would hide in the shadows, thinking that they were all looking for him. Therefore, he slowly learned to be a skilled Rogue, just as Arkalian learned to be a skilled Druid.

Years later, they were finally finished their "training". (Tummins never even touched an animal. ) They decided to leave the encampment, looking for bigger and better things, and most of all to figure out where Arkalian had come from. Together, they set off through the countryside. After a lon while of wandering, they came across a strange inn. A sign in front of the door read "Sword and Steed Tavern".

The boy (now a young man) and the munchling, curious as to what lay inside, quietly creaked the door open. An old lady in a dress welcomed them in.

Inside, they both had a good look around. Strangely, the tavern was enormous on the inside, yet from the outside it just looked like a small, wizened old building. Sitting at the tables were many shady-looking characters. Oblivious to the fact that these stange people might be dangerous, Arkalian and Tummins sat down at an empty table and asked the bartender for some wine.

Luckily, the man didn't see Tummins steal the gold. "Score!!" he thought to himself. He sneaked off to the bathroom to open it... and inside there wasn't gold, but an egg of some sort!
