Erm...BG2 is based on the Forgotten Realms, is it not?
Dragonlance is Forgotten Realms is it not? neway...

The chance to meet Caramon and Raistlin?
Tasslehoff Burfoot the shiny-thing-collecting Kender?

YES, it would be awesome. IF it was done right.
Would it be better than BG2? If it was, i'd certainly queue up to play

I see puppet master's point though - and I've actually played a game of BG II with characters from Dragonlance. I had Tanis, Caramon, Tasslehoff, Raistlin, Riverwind and Goldmoon. It was great

Like the man said, I'd surely buy it. Any new RPG would be great
But, better than BGII? I'd surely doubt it.

I really like dragonlance. The only problem would be to choose from the NPCS since it wouldn't offer the chance to create your own PC if it was true to the storyline.I think that this would greatly reduce its re-playability after the first 2 times...

No, Dragonlance plays on another world, named Krynn. Forgotten Realms play on a planet called Toril. In Spelljammer, both settings are reachable via space ships. The 3rd AD&D-Setting, Greyhawk, is set on the planet Oerth.
