Stuck on Empathic Manifestation???

I have gotten stuck trying to take out this monster called an Empathic Manifestation. I am currently pursueing the Cult of the Eyeless Quest and I've agreed to bring back from the depths one-half of a staff needed to take control. So can anybaody help me out here? I have probably done hundreds of hitpoint damage to this thing and it still flies and lives!! It's not harming my party much, but it won't die? Help.....

Use your Bhaal healing ability on it. Just click on your special abilities button and choose the cure light wounds icon and then click on the beast.

Yep I sat there for 10 minutes when I first met it whacking it not doing anything. Finally It sunk in my head what he keeps saying to me, that Pain strenghtens him, so I figured, well, lets try a HEALING spell instead of damaging him, and presto.
It can be done by any character, so just have a cleric heal him with a simple healing spell and presto.

Unless, of course, you've got a bug, which "somehow" deletes the Emphatic Manifest.......AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGHH!!!! !!!!!!!!

Hmmmmmm... I am not sure that's what you are supposed to do?

Get the rod device(half of it)...then go in and you can kill the thing with one blow(or a few).

No, that's the Unseeing Eye beholder.
If you're unfortunate enough to encounter the Empathic Manifestation when you've cast all your healing spells, try resting outside - it will die when it regains its hit points!
