Are you referring to relationships in general or those within the game???

The romances in the game. I did not even know they existed untill I came hear. I was just nice all the time then I find out that both Jaheria an Aaire are in love with me and I dont want either of the idiots. Then they start bitching with each other over me.

The relationships are there to add more realism and interest to the game. A lot of feedback from BG1 was that players wanted to get to know the NPC's better and have more interaction so the romances are meeting this request. As for there being a POINT, Jahiera's romance results in a few new tasks and a unique magic item at the end.

Next time I start a game, my PC will be female. I am so tired of having to reload because I hurt Aerie's feelings. It was purely unintentional, but when one is in the middle of a nasty fight with Shades and Shadows, it is somewhat difficult to be a sensitive, caring and nurturing man. I couldn't believe that, in the middle of her spell cast, the little ditz started talking about her scars! If she thinks those scars are bad she ought to look at what those Shades/Shadows are doing to her party!!!

Next time I send some damned fool, I'll go myself...

There are two points to these relationships. 1) In a role-playing sense, it adds more 'personality' to what would otherwise be a normal bash-the-nad-guys script. 2) If you are successful, you get more XP when you recover your loved one from what Bodhi does to him/her. Otherwise, just do what you feel

Know more than once I had to personaly choke down and bite my lips from some of her really porly timmed questions about her flightless statis, her scars, her this and that. Hole time I'm thinking back to my D&D days and realizing that her problem would be easely solved with a fly spell or a clerics 7th level regenerate spell. Technicaly a regenerate ring, a potion of regeneration would have healed her wings as well. So here I am in the middle of a fight, and haveing to deal with her incessent whinning.

Why did I do so? I'm male, and she is a very cute sounding chick, with a high chrisma. I don't think I need to go on any further. Besides that I love Shamans (mage/clerics). All spells, no waiting.

Coarse we finnaly get things goen, she shows me hers (the SCARS! I mean), and I show her mine. Next day she sais, "Things are going too fast! I think I'm gonna leave for a wile." Well I beg and she decided to leave after the adventure is over, but no scar showen anymore *sigh*.

Just great, even in a fantaisy world, my life mirrors the real.

Just wait until you meet Anomen when you're a female character!! He's as bad as Aerie - - not only boasts & insults you all the time, but also wants to reveal his life story to you in the middle of battle. He's the male equivelant of Aerie.

Having abandoned my search for truth, I am now looking for a good Fantasy.

I missed the whole romance thing as well. I knew that Jaheria was slowly coming on to me but got tired of her incessant gabbing at inoportune times. I finally told her to shut her cake hole and she never said anything again.
