[I posted this in BG1 forum as well- different audiences, etc.]
I am looking at the TeamBG tool set and am wondering how difficult it is to use these tools to make small modifications to the game? I have an AA in programming, but I've not used those skills in years, except for the small scripts I make for running software testing automation programs. Have any of you tried your hand at making custom items, kits, et cetera? If so, how programming intense is it? Are the tools GUI type deals, or do you edit raw code? If it's not too intensive, I may try it. thanks,

quote: How intensive it can be depends on what you're trying to achieve. ![]() If all you want to do is create new custom items, spells etc then you don't need ANY knowledge of programming. Just download Infinity Engine Editor Pro and read the helpfiles. Do a search on this forum and the one at TeamBG. Start small, look at an existing item and try to make small changes to it. Before you know it you'll be an expert. If you want to do AI or dialog scripting, there are tools there for that too, and your programming experience might come in handy, though if you're doing simple scripts it shouldn't be a problem. Anything more complex than those (creating a mod, etc) and you'll probably need to have a knowledge of hex editing, as well as know how to use area editors. Plus have a lot of time on your hands. ![]() Read some of the tutorials at TeamBG. There's a lot of knowledge there. |
